Unfortunately seems unfinished and abandoned.
There's currently game breaking bugs and the game appears to be abandoned by the dev
It's been 14 months since the last update here, which mentioned a divorce. Over on the Kickstarter page, which raised $139,685, there's been no update since November 2023. In fact, the creator's account hasn't been logged into since February 2024. I suspect that the game's development is over without further word, but I'll gladly welcome any future updates.
Got this game ever since it was newly released and it was fun while it lasted, but the future is looking bleak. It was a blast managing my 12 citizens (though disappointing it caps at 12), being proud of them as they grew smarter and then horrified as one of them cannibalized everybody. It was an up and down, up and down adventure. But now, after dipping my toes into other games similar to this one, this game feels barer than bones. It feels like scraps in comparison. I'm at the point where I don't think I have the heart to uninstall this game and might replay it out of nostalgia every once in a while, but I can't actually recommend it with how buggy it is.
This game has such great potential, I've been starting it up every 3 months for years. the problem is going above 5 spacers causes the game great slowdown, and the updates have added great new features , but added to the bugs without erasing the new ones. This game is a shining example of why i don't use early access. in principal I love the idea of buying into a game and seeing it develop, but so often it turns into a very slowly developed game. once I get 3-5 hours into a playthrough, the performance drops dramatically.
Was a really fun game. But the last update broke he game and then was abandoned.
This is one of those games that seems like it will never be finished. Its very sad because I liked it when I played it and was very interested in seeing it finished. They have not updated the game in 2 years, and it is nowhere near finished. Don't buy it.
The devs had a divorce and we still don't know who got the Starmancer a year later.
Even if it was "Mixed", I decided to get it a try on sale for ~$4. Was fun at first but the bugs just softlock the game in various ways. Colonist AI works for a period of time, then just breaks in so many odd ways, even when they are in "Good Health and Good Morale". Colonist wants to go find the bathroom, but can't figure out how to make up their mind to actually go do so. If you order them to go to the bathroom, they keep deciding to ignore your orders and go eat more food; then stop that to complain about needing the bathroom. If you pick them up and put them in same room as the toilet, they still can't find it. Colonist wanders around because "no work", even if they are assigned a job, in the same room, are in "good morale", and you order them to go do that job. A lot of promise, if it wasn't so broken. I didn't even get far enough to get to some of the other weird bugs people are mentioning....
Unable to complete tutorial, when prompted to select first research I accidentally closed the window and have no way to get back to it. No research station in build menu no nothing spent 2 hours on web looking for fix and time in game. Definitely needs more work if a simple bug like this can stop a run about an hour in.
