The evil Empire is currently creating a doomsday army behind a veil of secrecy. However, they are no match for the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division. Your mission is to infiltrate the Empire and put an end to their plans for terror and domination.

About
Star Wars™: Dark Forces Remaster has been brought to life by the team at Nightdive Studios, fully remastered through its proprietary KEX engine, allowing the game to run on modern gaming devices at up to 4K resolution at 120FPS. New and returning players will enjoy Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster’s upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for gamepads.
The original 1995 Star Wars: Dark Forces raised the bar for FPS games, offering players a significant degree of movement and interactivity, a large selection of items and power-ups, and engaging environments.
In the first Star Wars FPS video game, players assume the role of Kyle Katarn, a defector of the Galactic Empire turned mercenary for hire. Katarn joins the Rebel Alliance’s covert operations division tasked with infiltrating the Galactic Empire, where he discovers the secret Dark Trooper Project. The development of this powerful new series of Imperial battle droids and power-armored stormtroopers stands to strengthen the Empire’s grip on the galaxy unless Katarn and the Rebel Alliance intervene.

Reviews
For a game from 1995, this game is ridiculously ambitious. As a kid I used to watch my dad play games that came out in the 90s and this was one of them. I had never played the original Dark Forces until this Remaster for modern OS. Dark Forces puts you in the boots of Kyle Katarn as a mercenary working for the Rebellion (way before he became a Jedi). You are sent behind enemy lines on covert ops missions and to infiltrate Imperial facilities, steal plans and sabotage projects to stop the Empire from taking over and dominating completely the Rebel Alliance. In my opinion this is LucasArts' one of the best titles they have put out (a true classic)... they built its own engine that lets you jump, crouch, look up and down, swim, ride elevators, interact with the environment, and explore levels with real verticality. Way beyond the original Doom. It's not just flat shooting galleries, either. In some ways this game is ahead of many modern titles... The levels are huge, weird, and full of hidden areas, switches, shortcuts, traps, and objectives that make you feel like you're actually infiltrating an Imperial installation. The puzzles will put you to think, analyze the environment and crack your skull a bit to be able to proceed. It's quite immersive too! It does have some old-school pain. The lack of mid-mission saves can be brutal depending on the difficulty you play, and a few platforming sections will test your patience. But once you adjust to its 90s design philosophy, there's a ton to love here. If you like classic shooters, immersive level design, or Star Wars, you owe this one a shot. Definitely recommended! This game is more than an important piece of FPS history and it's still a damn good game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I quite enjoyed punching out the Kell Dragons

Pretty fun. Honestly I love the charm that is present in these older star wars games. They weren't worried about what was "canon", they just had fun with it and made a cool and interesting game in the star wars universe. The puzzles were neat and actually had me stumped at points. The movement and gunplay is definitely outdated but it's charming.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it
This is one of my favorite games from childhood. 9/10
This port is very faithful to the original Dark Forces while adding bonuses like a true 3D engine, better texture resolution and increased screen resolution.
a classic
Good remaster, shame they took down the original, but seeing as it had no achievements or whatnot, you're find picking the files needed to play with The Force Engine if you want some more jam!
If Kyle Katarn was the protagonist of Rogue One the movie would be a short 10 minute long film
