The evil Empire is currently creating a doomsday army behind a veil of secrecy. However, they are no match for the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division. Your mission is to infiltrate the Empire and put an end to their plans for terror and domination.

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is an excellent remaster that adds great new visuals and better feeling controls and more or less keeps everything as you remembered it -- for better or worse. Personally, I've tried playing this game in the past and could never get into it or got stuck, but this remaster was good enough for me to finally finish the game this time around! If you already like the game, then there's no reason not to pick this game up because I'd say its the definitive way to play this game currently. For the game itself, the game is a pretty decent Doom clone with an alright number of enemy types. You are certainly playing this game more for the novelty or nostalgia. The weapon variety is somewhat lacking since you are pretty much just using whatever weapon you have the most ammo for most of the game; most of the weapons feel same-y and most enemies die incredibly fast on normal. My biggest complaint with this game is the level design which granted, this is a remaster of an almost 30 year old game. Out of the 14 levels in the game, I will say around 2 or 3 of them definitely have issues with either puzzles or artificial difficulty with adding mines everywhere that do a ton of damage to you (I'm looking at you prison level). Also a minor complaint, but there isn't much else to do after you beat the game because just beating the game nets you all the achievements and having some achievements for finding secrets or playing on hard mode would have been a nice reason to play it again.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I know this is a remaster of a very old game, but I think there are many aspects of it, putting in today's standard, is quite dated and didn't age very well. I am talking specifically the map design, because despite I have been playing video games for decades now, this is one of few games that give me nausea and vertigo. There are too many meaningless backtracking and twisty branched paths, that will either lead you to nowhere or just back to where you started. It's not like they are shortcuts that will save your time, they are just there to confuse you. The longer I play, it just makes me want to throw up.
One of the GOAT FPS games from the 90s. Still a lot of fun, great story though I'll admit the level design shows some age. I'm not sure anyone would enjoy this this they didn't grow up with this, but I still find it very enjoyable years later.
Nightdive did a solid job remastering this title. The gunplay is crisp and snappy on modern mouse and keyboard, and the fast combat flow holds up surprisingly well. I'll be honest: I personally hate the KEX Engine. That said, I still have to give it credit for what it's accomplished. Its functionality and ability to cleanly modernize so many classic games built across completely different engines is genuinely impressive. 8/10
good if you like doom and star wars would reco
Well I remembered it being a way better game but, to be honest.... it's more annoying than good. I guess it's true that nostalgic memories beautify themselves with time.
This game is a great remaster that adds a lot of subtle quality of life features that improve the overall experience, while remaining faithful to the original vision and adding some cut content. The runtime isn't super long so I'd recommend getting it on a sale, but it's very fun if you enjoy the gameplay of games like Quake or DOOM. There are a lot of cool moments and environments, especially if you're a fan of older Star Wars media.
Just as fun as when I was a kid
