About
Hop into the driver's seat of your rocket-powered big rig as you haul cargo, scavenge for salvage and interact with an eclectic cast of star-hopping truckers in this Americana-infused journey on the ultimate open road - space!

Hi, this is Monster and Monster. Star Trucker is our tiny indie team's passion project, and we’re committed to making it the best intergalactic trucking game we can. By listening to the community, we’re working hard to improve the experience with every update. So buckle up and join us for the long haul!

Your truck is not a starship. We’ve taken typical vehicular controls then made sure zero-g momentum played a big part in maneuvers. The result is a unique driving experience that’s easy to pick up yet hard to master!
Cruise the hyper highways, taking on a variety of jobs such as fuel hungry long hauls and hazardous drop-offs to earn cash and unlock new content.
And don't forget to monitor the CB radio for chatter from fellow truckers; it's a fantastic way to uncover side gigs and stay updated on galactic gossip.

Keeping your rig runnin’ isn’t always easy. You’ll need to keep your core systems online, gravity compensator spinnin’ and hull patched to prevent your cab from leaking lung juice.
Be sure to make pre-trip shop stops for replacement parts, and consider upgrading your truck at a local garage. These improvements are vital for safely navigating volatile sectors and ensuring timely deliveries.

Use the galactic map to plan your journey and warp jumps, while keeping an eye on your fuel reserves and power levels.
Once your route is set, kick back, crank up the cab hi-fi and cruise to a selection of original songs covering starburst blues, galactic rock and asteroid infused americana. The open road is waiting!

Star Trucker is a really awesome blend of space game and simulator. It's approachable and let's the player have complete customization on difficulty settings and how the game plays (more sim, vs more story, vs more mechanical, etc). It's got a great balance on "grind" that gives you the simulator feel of "getting work done" but doesn't demand 100's or 1000's of hours of your time to complete. Mission rewards are marginal at best early in making your first few upgrades feel really rewarding as you scrape by but also risky because a bad crash can leave you with a hefty repair bill that makes you think twice before running wide open through a debis field. I was also was impressed with the way the story plays out. What seems like odd side jobs at first blends together in a solid way. The characters on the CB Radio keep the game feeling alive and bring a lot of great and authentic feeling personality to the game that would otherwise just be a quiet and monotonous grind through the void. The skill tree and progression is cleverly linked to "certifications" that unlock different types of jobs while the story drives unlocking new tools and areas in a way that works really well together. Letting the player pick and choose how quickly to progress or what types of jobs to specialize in makes it feel more like a open space sand box to play in.. this also keeps the challenges varied as different areas present different challenges while different types of jobs can completely change the way the truck handles or your approach to how you drive. Truck upgrades feel meaningful and very much impact the way your truck performs in a noticeable way; while cosmetics are unlocked through challenges and achievements which feels rewarding and when combined with heavy penalties on damage, repairs, or not following the rules (i.e. skipping out on a weigh station) - creates a lot of immersion and attachment to the truck. Lastly I'll say the universe is beautiful and satisfying to explore. Each sector I've seen so far has a different look and feel or sometimes new hazards involved. The soundtrack is good and lends itself to the characters, the world building, and that "trucker" feel too.. albeit the playlist was pretty short. The other "Truck Sim Stations" you can change to on the radio are a good way to hold up that shortfall but the songs there are modern day hits and can sometimes feel out of place depending on what's playing.. All in all - impressed with Star Trucker and highly recommend. Honestly, Ive always been curious about these "truck sim" games but was hesitant for fear of them being boring... Despite seeing people dump 1000's of hours into them... But I also love space games. The "Firefly Universe" is something I sorely miss and this game feels very similar to that, Hard space Shipbreaker, and others like it. Not sure how this would compare to ETS or ATS but Star Trucker seemed like the perfect introduction into these types of games in a setting I already knew and loved.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I've lost so much money cause the stupid ahh game will swap my way point every time Dum Fuc calls me on the radio to give me some new side quest. imagine your on a job but your group chat can change what your assignments are via text, bro all i wanna do is drive, but sarah wants me to go across the galaxy and waste 7k on a job because i now took the wrong jump gate. would love the game otherwise but that makes this game mid af.
Nice game, its relaxing
It's not fun. IMHO it's a stupid premise but that's not important. It's a botched execution of something that COULD have been fun. DEV -- seriously, this game just is "meh"; like this could have been truck driving, goods trading, engine fixing, exploration fun! But instead you flushed any sensible QoL down the toilet, turned this into a button-mashing nightmare, and called it "Game Play". It's an insult to people who are not Reddit / Lemmy Mods. Run on Linux.
I love this game, but I understand why others don't. The learning curve is a bit sharp. Just take it slow starting out and be patient. If you put in the legwork to learn how to fly safely, it won't be long before it gets really easy. There are some really helpful guides if you get stuck. Once you get settled, it becomes a cozy trucking sim.
I played this on a gamepad and instantly realized this game has a HUGE flaw. This is a 3D space transport game, but your "truck" lacks multidirectional thrusters, which in zero G 3D space navigation is beyond ridiculous and infeasible. If this was done as a measure to favor entertainment over realism, it failed miserably and makes the game not only unrealistic, but less enjoyable by intentional design. Just because I don't agree with the devs creative vision, or lack of basic space navigation understanding, doesn't mean you have to agree with me and buy this title under the pretense its awkward and cumbersome on purpose.

Truck kind of sucks at being a truck or ship. sure it can haul stuff but it sure as hell sucks at doing anything but going in a straight line. It turns like a barge floating down a river just drifts off into on coming traffic even when actively trying. It feels like you have to over correct to get it to turn at all. they want you to mage thruster heat at all times while dogging traffic, debris, and a truck will not stay at speed forcing you on the throttle constantly, yet they put the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heat gauge on the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roof. Driving feels like you are on ice with brakes that are stuck on all while trying to keep your car from overheating with a non functing gauge, while other drives have zero breaks or streering. AI drivers are on rials for the most part maybe a minor change in course, most of the time they just sound the horn and ram into if you are even slightly in their path. ♥♥♥♥ breaks or steering for them just ramming speed.....
There can be an occasional bug or two, and the other stuff in space is great at rage-baiting you, but this game is fantastic. It is incredibly chill while still needing focus, and it is super peaceful. The graphics look great, the missions are fun, and you can listen to any radio station in the world with a few easy steps. Also, it was loosely inspired by an episode from cowboy bebop, which is one of my favorite shows, so it gets some brownie points for that.
