Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Incredibly good game. Way better than I expected it to be. It's like it somehow magically improved since I last saw it, but it's only because it's been literal generations, we've moved from the PS1 to the PS5 era, and the people who made this remake put the effort into maintaining the style while updating it for modern sensibilities. This is the DEFINITIVE way to play Star Ocean Second Story R. I highly recommend you check this game out, even if you already played a previous version.
This is how all old school remakes should be done. I had an absolute amazing time playing this game!

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Wonderful Remake with great QoL changes, new content and more. This is how it's done.
I want to start this with the only criticism I have; I don't like that I can't turn off voice overs without just turning off voices completely...I like having the call-outs during battle but the voices overs during dialogue bother me and kind of ruin the feel of a classic rpg. ALL of that being said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!! All the polishing, quality of life changes, and the additions have all been amazing so far as I near the end of what would have been "disk 1" Star Ocean 2 became my most favorite game when I picked it up for the first time in 1999, and this remaster has only re-kindled that. Thank you, it has been healing to travel back in time here, to be in touch with my 14 year old self again.
Really good remake of a game that is both true to the original and updates what's outdated. The counter system is jank but it can be completely ignored to have an almost identical combat experience to the original. If you never played before, it can be cleared in about 35ish hours (at least the main story) and has almost 100 different ending combinations, depending on each character's relation to each other, and more characters than slots available, so there's good replay value. SO2 also belongs to the category of games that let you crack them wide open, but still have really challenging super bosses. You can get -extremely- powerful, but to get through everything you're kind of expected to, which is fun and rewarding. Lots of replayability, good challenge on Universe difficulty, and plenty of post-game content to take a crack at. Can't recommend enough
Beautiful graphics and art style with fun combat.
This "would" be a great game, but the combat is .... well.. unsatisfying. This is for me due to 2 reasons : a) basicly you mash the attack button over and over, and sometimes throw in a special attack if you have the MP to do so or use an item. b) the AI of your compagnions is awful. A W F U L ..... either they spent all MP with casting spells (which is "somewhat" helpfull to be fair), or they do nothing at all. when you put them on "fight balanced" for example, they will stilll spent all MP, and as soon as they have no enough left, the hide in a corner and are completly useless... c) combat overall seems very untactical. maybe this changes later on, but i dont know if i want to wait that long .... might give it another shot in a few weeks, but right now ... i cant find the motivation to keep playing. and gow could i recommend a game when thats the case?
This is one of my favorite games of all time. I would recommend it to anyone...the difficulty levels scale exceptionally well...and the crafting system is rewarding as it is complex. The only downside....and it's a small one....are the changes they made to the way certain abilities leveled up. Not a deal breaker in any way, it just takes some getting used to for veteran players. Albeit, not likely much, as fans of this game will quickly adapt, and new players should find zero conceivable issues. I used to own the original copy, the copy for the psp, and now I own it for steam. Couldn't be happier.
