Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

This game is and always will be amazing.
Awesome game, great graphics and addicting combat. Highly reccommend if youre a fan of story driven action JRPGS like the "Tales Of" series.
Really good remake of a game that is both true to the original and updates what's outdated. The counter system is jank but it can be completely ignored to have an almost identical combat experience to the original. If you never played before, it can be cleared in about 35ish hours (at least the main story) and has almost 100 different ending combinations, depending on each character's relation to each other, and more characters than slots available, so there's good replay value. SO2 also belongs to the category of games that let you crack them wide open, but still have really challenging super bosses. You can get -extremely- powerful, but to get through everything you're kind of expected to, which is fun and rewarding. Lots of replayability, good challenge on Universe difficulty, and plenty of post-game content to take a crack at. Can't recommend enough

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Star Ocean: The Second Story is a visually strong remake of an okish JRPG. The overall experience, while worthwhile, feels disjointed and outdated, especially for newcomers – 6/10. I mean its a good game and I am still enjoying it, but with other stronger games in my library I’ve often postponed it and I don't know if I'll be back.
BLUF: A classic JRPG with an insane amount of content and systems given the time it came out. Perhaps one of the most interesting features of StarOcean 2 is that you can choose one of two playable characters at the start. While the plot is mainly the same, there are many side differences and even certain characters that can or cannot join the party based on who you play. This adds a significant potential for replayability to what is already a massive game. The best part of this release, besides all the bonus content and continued support, is that some of the most annoying and gimmicky gotcha features have been trimmed from the game. For me, it's safe to say that this version is definitive and even more enjoyable then playing it on my original PlayStation. Fully recommend.
great game
Played countless hours on the original ps1 version. The remake is amazing. Plan on playing this game for hundreds of hours.
Good remake of a classic.
Now Square Enix just needs to get a dev to remake Radiata Stories like this
