About

The town of Critter Cove used to attract visitors from all over the world. Now it’s mostly known for dirty streets and trash-strewn beaches. Can you help us turn things around?
Critter Cove is a life sim and town builder game with a beautiful, handcrafted open world to explore.

Spend your doubloons to upgrade buildings and explore the world to discover new blueprints and gather resources to grow your town. More upgrades will improve Critter Cove’s tourist rating.
The greater your tourist rating, the more new tourists will visit. The more new tourists, the more money in your pockets to upgrade the town!

Venture out into the mysterious tropical archipelago peppered with the ruins of a long-destroyed civilization. Dive beneath the waves to salvage the treasures of the old world. Rescue shipwrecked critters. Unearth exotic ingredients. It’s a wondrous world of mysterious ruins, shipwrecks and ancient technology waiting to be discovered.

As you explore, you’ll find resources to craft hundreds of different items, discover new construction blueprints and bring home unique plants to grow on your farm. Turn mundane salvage into something new and unique, and improve your tourism rating by offering your freshly grown food to visitors.

Use tourist money and salvaged items to restore rundown buildings and open up entirely new stores and venues for tourists and townsfolk. Craft decorations and interactive objects that will improve the town and make it uniquely yours. You can even decorate your very own home with hand-crafted (or hand-looted) furniture!

You’ll need help to restore the town, and luckily the world of Critter Cove is filled with many colorful characters. Some are easy-going and friendly… others might need some convincing! I can't say enough good things about Critter Cove! I love repairing the rundown, resort island that you start on. It gives me a great sense of purpose and direction. But, even if I didn't have that, I would love all the exploring that you do. There are underwater ruins, little hidden caves, and all sorts of things to find. I personally like discovering the notes left behind that let you piece together what happened in this world. Honestly, Critter Cove has everything that you could want if you like a cozy, town-building experience. After storms, you take your boat out and rescue stranded NPCs. You can invite them back to your island and build them a home. Once you start repairing the shops, you can give those same folks jobs! You can craft and decorate, you can farm and cook, you can build robots to help automate things. It's a ton of fun! But, the cherry on top of it all is how awesome the devs are. I had a crash to desktop issue over a holiday weekend. I emailed them, figuring I wouldn't hear back until after the holiday, and I was fine with that. (Everyone deserves to have a holiday!) But, lo and behold, they got back to me over the weekend. They were helpful, cheerful, and a delight to speak with. <3
This game is a hidden gem, and even if it needs some tweaks when it comes to the farming and swimming, it is really fun to play. I loved the questline and all the quirks. The critters I picked(I had no clue about their personalities)was so fun to talk to. My hope for this game is that the devs will try to fix the bugs that create some hick-ups here and there, nothing that really stopped me from playing but they are there and shouldn't be. Try it out if you like cozy games because this is cozy and really fun to play!
I adore this game. The world feels lively and there's alot of discovering/exploring aspects. Collecting materials doesn't feel too grindy, discovering blueprints feels achievable and worthwhile. The critter villagers you interact with have expressive personalities that match their faces and movements very well and you get attached to them, there's jobs they can do later and they'll actually be actively doing that job which can involve interacting with other critters or ones that visit. Their voices are also cute. The music is also nice! Can be Lofi at certain times, paired with my graphics up is sensory candy to me, the water at certain times (sunset) and sky is so nice and the starry sky too. There's a post apocalypic aspect to the world but not in a scary way, in a peaceful, overgrown way with means of rediscovery. Some ruins are gorgeous! Seriously a nice open world, with other islands you can freely swim/boat to. The customization is very good and you can be creative and make a unique character to play as. It's honestly one of my favorite games right now.
You will probably see this and say 'furries'. Don't do that, specially if you have ever played a game like 'Animal Crossing', which is exactly the same but no one links to the term. Yes, this is clearly Animal Crossing inspired, with bits of My Sims, My time at Portia, and others. When i got this game, i wasn't expecting it to be so heavily inspired by those, but the result is pretty neat! Good and bad points? ++ Great game performance and really short loading times, with no lag detected so far! ++ Very relaxing. The game encourages exploring while gathering resources, and then use those to revive your island. Everything hand in hand with a nice and calming sountrack. -- Soundtrack can get a bit repetitive over time. There is also an issue with certain tracks that ignore the music volume slider and make you deaf. -- No 'boombox' to override music in a room or area or your choice, like your house ¬¬ ++ Tons of costumization for your character from the very beggining! Aside of clothing, you have a huge selection of options to customize your character, and none will be locked at any time, so you can change yourself completely mid-game if you want. -- Clothing can only be get by completing requests from villagers, or after unlocking certain building, but it is always random... One month of gameplay and I still havent seen the blue hoodie! ¬¬ ++ Tons of villagers! Having a huge costumization comes with a great rooster of premade villagers that you can encounter. ++ Since last update, you can create your very own villagers by unlocking certain building. -- Just 5 villager moods as far, which makes all vilagers feel the same and lack personallity. ++ House costumization allows not only to decorate your own house, but also to redesign villagers' after a certain event. -- Furniture, just like clothes, are random either from quest rewards or daily stock in a shop. -- No options to create / design your own furniture / clothes yet. ++ The game uses an ingame day / time system instead of a real time one, which eliminates the need of booting the game on impossible days of your busy life. Play when you want to play, and all content will be there waiting for you. -+ The town is 'as it is'. You can't choose where to build a house or building because the town has been designed in its own way. You get to choose which building is your house though. ++ Grinding is real, but not abusive. After you get aquintance with the near islands and unlock certain breathing upgrade, grinding becomes easy and manageable. Even crafting stations, which need time to process certain items into others, have permanent upgrades to greately reduce the time taken. ++ Huge map to explore. The map is just MASSIVE, and it is not even finished yet! Each region has multiple islands, all with their own secrets, and even the water surrounding them has lots of diving spots to discover. Every place has been created with dedication to the detail, keeping up with the game's lore. -- For some reason, not all villagers appear on the map, making tedious to track them for their requests. -- Players can't manually mark the map for waypoints, resources, villagers, or personal references. -+ Some elements shown on the trailers are not in the game, like the beach waiter job or certain critter interactions like taking photos, throwing trash, or falling for stepping on trash. The boat is also missing some pretty important upgrades. Pretty sure all this will be on a future update though. -- No photo mode!!! Short version: it is a nice game to sit and relax, with tons of gameplay time and customization even for an early access, but still lacks some quality of life improvements that would make the game a big hit. Can't wait until the 1.0 update is here!
It could be a very fun game, but I get terrible motionsickness from playing it.
i have 163 hours in this game at first i really liked it but as time went on I've found more and more bugs that have made the game almost impossible to play. recently they added a salon feature where you can make custom characters i spent 15 thousand game currency to create three characters and the game never implemented them into the game after so much time and so many bugs i can only throw in the towel and give up. i really wish i could give this game a good review but for me it hasn't worked well.
Critter Cove, the cute animals game that makes you wonder if you're a drug mule
i love this game so much and can not wait for 1.0. worth a buy now or anytime. LOVE THE ART. LOVE THE CHARACTER DESIGN. Thank you devs for having a vision and seeing it through
