Spyro™ Reignited Trilogy

Fun remake of the original if you have issues playing try lowering your framerate to 60 FPS. If you let it go higher than that on some of the missions you may start seeing visual glitches or spyro may start moving like you have stick drift but other than that great remake!

Since these are three separate games I'm going to review them individually. (Note: I haven't played the originals so these reviews are not in comparison to the original games) Spyro 1 is a masterpiece. It's a platformer and knows it. The level designs are engaging and fun to 100%. Bosses are puzzle based instead of arena based which is really refreshing. Most importantly the world feels fantastical, immidetly immersing you without the bloat of a complex plot too large for a casual game. Spyro 1 knows what type of game it wants to be and does it fantastically. Only real problems are the sudden difficulty spike in the jungle area, and some of the enemies in that area being uhhh...dated in a way that wouldn't fly today. Overall though, absolute 10/10. I wish I had as kind words for the other two games, and they're by no means bad, but they both have some glaring flaws bogging them down. Though for Spyro 2, these problems are much more major. The game feels unfinished. With a much shorter run time than either 1 or 3. They still manage to make the main levels relatively fun, but many just don't capture that same atmosphere as the first game, with many relying heavily on cultural appropriation. Plus bosses are arena based now which feels unoriginal and is done poorly. They try to go for a more complex plot. Which falls flat with characters that are supposed to be funny, but end up being grating. There's also back tracking, so much backtracking, infinite backtracking. 100% a level first time through is rare in this game. The worst change however, is the minigames. I don't remember a single minigame that wasn't at least a little frustrating, and many were downright painful. They come across as what they are, filler. Overall this game felt like a demo project more than a full Spyro game, but the core gameplay is still quite good. I can really only give this one a 6/10. Spyro 3 takes the best and worst of the Spyro games and combines them. Compared to the second game it actually feels fleshed out. The plot isn't great by any means but it's not objectively bad this time. The levels have a good amount of variety to them, and while not quite as engaging as the first game they are much better than the second. They cultural appropriation is still an issue, but you can tell they tried to lean more towards appreciation instead. Bosses are still arena based, but some of the fights are decently fun this time. Backtracking is still there, but much less of an issue, with it feeling procedural instead of random. The big hit or miss of this game though is yet again more mini games. While the second game didn't have anything good to offer there. Minigames this time are a true toss up. They're either a fun chance to get some variety of gameplay, even with some new characters, or soul crushing in a way that will fundamentally break you as a human. I have never spent more time on things I hated every moment of than in this game. The mole game is the worst offender (I literally had to cheat this one because the moles hitboxes were so small and the gnomes so massive and you get so little time). But the skateboard minigames, oh they have a special place in hell. In both races and time trials if you are off by a single frame you will fail. If you do not do it perfectly you will fail. Even if you do it without flaw there's a 50/50 chance it'll glitch and you will fail. I'm fully convinced hunter is a demon trapped in the Spyro sequels, torturing the players as revenge for being sealed away. Minigames make up a solid 50% of the game as well, making it feel bloated when there was no need for it to be. I want to give this game a higher rating because the main levels themselves are fun and complex, but the minigames had me begging for the game to be over by the last world. It's much better than Spyro 2 but suffers the same filler problem making it not nearly as good as Spyro 1. In the end it's about a 7.5/10. With all these scores averaged the reignited trilogy gets an 8.5/10 in my book. Definitely worth a playthrough, and the first game has alot of reply value.

Excellent remastered pour ceux qui n'ont pas joué ou pas fini les jeux d'origine. Je n'ai pas l'impression que le jeu ait vraiment vieilli.
