An enjoyable M3 game with a slightly different twist of manipulating the light rays to remove spooks either haunting the outer edges of the boards, or moving about within the playfields. There are 90 M3 levels plus an assortment of minigames (HOS, jigsaws, match pairs, match the halves). Difficulty is very customizable, as there isn't just the usual options of relaxed, limited moves, or timed, but you can also configure how the powerups work and whether or not you get powerups for bigger matches. You can also choose between standard and expert difficulty if playing in limited moves or timed mode. In my experience, expert mode is a serious challenge, but not the near impossibility it was in Spooky Dwellers 3. The obstacles are not the same old, same old seen in a lot of other M3 games. If you were looking for a M3 reminiscent of ones made 20 years ago, this is definitely not it. But that's what I really enjoy about the whole Spooky Dwellers series. The scene building in between levels has gone back to the style seen in the first Spooky Dwellers game, where it's reconstructing a creepy scene. If you didn't enjoy the "sim" game built into Spooky Dwellers 2 and 3 which was a game in itself with building a fully customized scene, this is a refreshing change back. There's no benefit to building the scene this time, except for the Steam Achievement. I've got to wonder about the storyline...IMO Maximilian got what he deserved, but at least you're being noble. :) The Steam version is the SE version. A Collector's Edition is available at other sites for a higher price if you want "all" the content, but the SE is a nice bargain for around 10 hours of play.
