Reviews
Recommended. Virtual Cottage has become one of my favorite apps for relaxing and staying focused. I mainly use it as a timer while reading, even though I often end up spending much longer in it than I originally planned. I usually lower the in-game music and play my own playlists on Spotify that match whatever I'm doing. Right now, I'm using it while reading Your Name, one of my favorite movies of all time. I've watched it countless times since I was a kid, and I finally bought the novel. Since I lost my bookmarks, I've even started using Steam Notes to keep track of the pages I'm on. The app creates a peaceful atmosphere, and I also like that it includes a built-in to-do list. My only real complaint is the lack of support for importing playlists. Being able to connect Spotify, YouTube, or even local music folders would make the experience even better. Even with that limitation, it's a wonderful companion for reading, studying, or simply slowing down after a busy day. P.S.: I only use Spotify because Virtual Cottage's built-in music doesn't really match the atmosphere of the book I'm currently reading. For studying, working, or other tasks, though, I usually use the app's own soundtrack, and it fits those activities perfectly.

I love it. Really help with focusing.
Although this isn't actually a game, I still enjoyed using it nonetheless, the only weird thing I got out of it was I got the 100 hours achievement earlier than expected, but still I don't really mind it, the music was rather limited for this and it really doesn't take long for your mind to recognize which track is being played that's how limited it is in terms of OSTs, but still I don't mind it in particular. For the most part I left this application running in the background though.
I feel like this is just worse than other "games" of the same genre. Less customization, less music, less options. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this when better options exist.
This is the demo version of the paid tier "Virtual Cottage 2" which comes with a Pomodoro timer amongst other features. Works well on a second monitor.
It really help focus.
yes.
Gives you something lovely to run in the background, e.g. on a second screen, while working.
This is great as a background "game" - and I use the term, game, loosely - because not only this is great for racking up achievements and hours logged in my Steam, it is great for helping me focus and simple at "gamifying" my work tasks. And it is cozy to look at as a second screen in my monitor.
