About
Spires of Morosith is a tactical tower defense game with a blend of real-time-strategy elements. Allowing you to control the shape of the battlefield and the path of your enemies, Spires of Morosith seeks to deepen the impact the surroundings can have on the classic Tower Defense.
⠀

INVADING GRAINWRAITHS
The Grainwraiths ripping into Arborglen through Tears. They want to destroy the Spires creating the Gossamer, then won’t stop until all of Arborglen is consumed.
There is a variety of Grainwraith characters, from the small and many Scouts to the rare and horrifying Abhorration.
Enemies may spawn as a special type. For example, the Mammoths who draw towers’ ire protecting the smaller Grainwraith beside it. Or the Trojan that on death will create a small Tear, spawning more enemies.
The boss wave encounters will stress your strategies and take advantage of defensive weaknesses.
⠀

SUMMONED DEFENSES
Conjure from an arsenal of 5 towers, each serves a unique function for defeating the invading Grainwraiths.
Towers have one or two upgrade paths that build upon what makes each tower unique, sometimes adding additional effects like burning, vulnerability, or reduced move speed.
Summoning Towers influences the route the Grainwraiths will use to reach the Spires.
⠀

SUPPORT STRUCTURES
Improve resource generation and harvesting rates with buildings.
Buildings wont deal damage to the Grainwraiths but are as important as towers in keeping Arborglen and its Spires protected.
Buildings influence the Grainwraith routes, and have larger footprints (2x2) than towers (1x1).
⠀

SPIRES OF MOROSITH AND OBELISKS
Active Spires form the Gossamer that keeps the Grainwraiths from invading Arborglen. They’ve been disabled, and now the Grainwraiths seek to destroy them.
Protecting the Spires is priority one. When a Grainwraith reaches a Spire it will cause significant damage.
Success takes more than survival. Arborglen’s Spires need to be reactivated to heal the Gossamer and keep Grainwraiths from invading through Tears.
Once enough Grainwraith Cores have been collected by Obelisks, they may power a nearby Spire. Defeat the Grainwraith within the Obelisk’s area to collect its Core!
⠀

GATHERERS SIMON AND ALLEN
The Gatherers can be commanded to collect resources from the map. Gather wisely, resources are removed from the map once collected!
Removing resources creates more space for towers but may also open new routes for Grainwraiths to access the Spires!
Gatherers may also discover Ancient Knowledge in the forests of Arborglen, adding new Towers and Buildings to your arsenal!
ARBORGLEN
Each of the three regions within Arborglen present opportunity to expand your defensive strategies.
How will defenses fit in the dense forests? Or control portal connections and limited pathing options of the floating islands? Is there enough time to cut through the deadroot to access the Heartwood Trees?
Be cautious when building near the wildlife in the regions, they may try to protect their space!
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
When faced with a challenging puzzle, reflecting on the outcomes will help overcome obstacles in your way. Spires of Morosith offers a few features that help those that look for clarity.
Each successful wave generates a report, letting you know how many of the Cores you claimed and any Spire damage that wave.
The resources generated per minute, and the wave difficulty stats may be found by hovering over the Wood Bank and Wave displays.
While paused, you’re given access to construct blueprints that will temporarily update the Grainwraith path. Helpful for planning intricate maze designs.
When feeling prepared, take on the Endless Mode to see how long the Spire stands against an relentless Grainwraith spawn.

Great game so far, really enjoying my time with it. Has me hooked pretty immediately. I'll update my review as I play more, but for now highly recommend if you're a fan of TDs.
Tower Defense maze building at its finest! Hours of gameplay, Fieldrunners-esque fun. Challenging levels and engaged developer! If you love Tower Defense games, this has new twists and classic gameplay that feels great and will delight for weeks. If you are new to Tower Defense, this is a great entry first foray, easy to pick up and lots to master!
Fun until you get to the middle levels. Then it is so dang hard, it just isn't enjoyable. Playing the same level 40 times makes you rage quit. No way to upgrade towers fast enough, farm fast enough, or lower difficulty settings. Worth the money if on sale for $10.
It's a great little lunch break game, 30m-ish sessions and you can play with a sandwich in one hand while you click the mouse. It's real-time with pause which giving you time to think which is nice, and it automatically goes into slow-mo while building towers so you don't have to keep manually pausing. Some of the missions are pretty tough and it often comes down to your macro strategy of how you prioritize the obelisks and how/when you route through them. The map layouts have a big impact on your strategy so you have to figure it out fresh with each new level.
Great town defense -- intuitive and thoughtful gameplay.
Its a fun game, the different maps change old strategies up, and create new ones. The Delver City Maps are my favorite, as they enable you to aggressively use Conduits for harvesting lumber quickly. The game really lets you stretch how greedy you can be with early Manasteel Fountains. Some maps you can build that wave one and the early income of manasteel makes the rest of the map much more managable, while others this greed becomes your downfall. This manasteel is used for things like the Eruption Flame Tower, which is a beast, especially the noble version. Controlling the enemies' paths through making a maze or a choke point is the key to success, and on some maps its really about how you can get the Grainwraiths to the right place.
An addictive tower defense! I found myself playing for hours on end. The mechanics are quite a bit different from most other TDs I've played. There's no cascading effect of where if you miss a few mobs, you get less money, thus less towers to not maximize your kills. Instead you get tower "gold" by chopping down trees. But the trees are also part of your maze. But also you need the gold ASAP to defend your Obelisk! So you have to find a balance between all three. I didn't find it too hard on normal fun, and there's a few bugs that are a bit annoying. But overall, I really enjoy it, and it's pretty cheap too.
I don't think I've ever reviewed a game, but I wanted to support this one. Simple to learn and play, with well paced progression on new buildings and enemies. I found the knowledge discovery feature to be a nice way of unlocking new features as opposed to just having XP based unlocks, very reminicant of old RTS games. Plenty of replayability with multiple ways to defend each map, challenge mode, and endless modes. Definitely recommend it - great value for money if you enjoy RTS or are looking for a game that's enjoyable in short 30 minute sessions with the ability to pause.
---see where this game landed on my tower defense tier list beneath this rec!--- I went in not expecting much given its obscurity, but this is a surprisingly fun mazer. It's basically another ‘TD that would be decent as a set of Warcraft 3 custom maps’. Warcraft 3 is clearly an influence, with the way you have a couple of workers that you set to chop wood (wood buys towers, killing monsters doesn’t earn gold). There are many trees on most maps and because this is a mazer, determining which ones to chop down can be an integril part of the strategy. As well as managing this, there’s two small regions on most of your maps where you need to kill 250 enemies in each: doing this wins the stage. Deciding how to connect these two areas to one another and maze them plays a big part in your success or failure. Further complicating that, there can be multiple enemy spawner locations and some levels also have teleporters that the enemies can reach to move to different parts of the map. There's also buildings you'll want to buy that provide benefits, and deciding when to purchase these instead of building another tower can be a weighty decision to make as well. All of these things combine to create a decent amount of complexity. There aren't all that many towers, though each tower can be upgraded into 1 of 2 choices - so the variety on this front is more limited. While the game starts out pretty easy, by about the third (and final) act of the game the difficulty really ramps up - to the point that sometimes it can feel like you’re being forced into finding the ‘intended way’ through a lot of trial and error. Some tower defense games can feel over-tuned to the point of strictness, with there only being one way to solve the level, making the experience more of a trial and error puzzle and eliminating your ability to be creative. I dislike TDs that go this route on every stage. It’s really just the late game levels that felt this harsh though. There’s also at least enough moving parts in Spires that it feels like you can still express some variation & creativity, even when chipping away at the harder levels. It’s not the worst case of strictness I’ve encountered (Artisan TD anyone?), but I still find myself being pushed around by the game a lot in ways I didn’t like. Somewhere during the final third of the game I decided I was ready to stop playing and not finish it. Despite this, I found the game more palatable than most. I can imagine myself reinstalling it on a damp afternoon to grind a few hard levels. I should point out that each level has an even harder mode that can be toggled on, so you can get a lot of time out of this if you’re up for the challenge. This game gets a sideways thumb from me, leaning more positive than negative. Once you've seen a few levels, or the new gimmick of each act, it feels like you've seen it all. ===================== My Tower Defense Tier List (PC) ===================== -Not an objective list, purely how much I enjoyed the games- -Played many more than this, but many forgettable TD’s I have.. “forgotten” when making this list. S Tier (Incredible): X-Morph Defense* | Warcraft 3 (custom TD maps)* | Orcs Must Die!* | Orcs Must Die! 2* | Orcs Must Die! 3*# | B Tier (Great): Dungeon Warfare* | Plants Vs.
