The game is short, but the story is so engaging and well paced that it never really feels short. The cover-shooter mechanics are a little wonky at first, but after a couple of hours you get used to them and learn how to work with them. Mechanically, it isn't the best third-person shooter ever made — but that's really not why you play Spec Ops: The Line. Man... this story sits with you. What starts off feeling like a fairly standard military shooter slowly becomes something completely different. The atmosphere, dialogue, environments and even some of the smaller details all start working together to make you question what you're doing and why you're doing it. I actually had this game sitting in my library for years collecting digital dust. I should have played through it a long time ago. It's a shame that it's been delisted. If you can still find a legitimate copy somewhere, play it. And seriously — don't read the story, don't watch videos explaining it, and don't spoil it for yourself. Go in blind. It's one of the best examples I've played of a game using the medium itself to tell its story rather than simply showing you one. A masterpiece of storytelling. **Gameplay: 7/10** The cover-shooter mechanics can feel a little wonky and dated at first, but after a few hours you get used to them and learn how the game wants you to play. It does the job and remains enjoyable, but the gameplay itself isn't what makes Spec Ops: The Line special. **Story: 10/10** Absolutely the standout. The pacing is excellent, the story keeps pulling you forward, and it stays with you long after the credits roll. It's one of those rare games where the narrative elevates the entire experience. Go in blind and don't spoil it for yourself. **Graphics / Art Direction: 7.5/10** Dubai is a fantastic and unique setting, with some genuinely striking scenes of skyscrapers and a city being swallowed by sand. That said, the constant desert dust, sand and muted colour palette can become a little bland and visually repetitive after a while. **Overall: 8/10** As a pure cover shooter, it probably wouldn't score this high. But Spec Ops: The Line is much more than its mechanics. The exceptional story, atmosphere and pacing elevate the entire game. It's relatively short, but it's so well paced and engaging that it never really feels short. A flawed game, but an unforgettable experience and a masterpiece of storytelling.
Narrativa surpreendente e interessante. Spec Ops: The Line acabou por se tornar um jogo cultuado, principalmente pelo jeito em que a história se desenvolve.
