It´s booring ... why should I play?
https://youtu.be/hhXM0DtYhTY Pushing into the third entry for the series, there is an ironic lack of evolution in gameplay and a odd regression in input/controller support.
This is kind of a cool game with a lot of variety that feels a bit like a PS2 game, but the achievements can be a pain and the ending is super abrupt which keeps it from being great. Unlike the other Sparkle games, this one has "quests" and you can choose to level your Sparkle based on the food you eat and the selections you make after you level. It doesn't matter that much- for one, you can't die, and really the only thing that matters is speed and your special attack. If you reach level 50 your Sparkle with be massive and take up two full screens which is cool, but it's not hard to control since the hitbox is just the head. It doesn't actually get stronger and it doesn't seem like you get much faster. The special abilities are important. These are invincibility, a dash attack and the ability to suck in gems. The ability to suck in gems ("nutrients") is the most useful since you eat them to defeat bosses and level. There are a couple really painful sections where you need to navigate a path full of thorns. If you screw up, you get sent back to the beginning. It's cool that you can change layers and the graphic and sound design are great. I'm an achievement completionist and I found some of these achievements super irritating. You must reach max level 3 times and each time takes about 90 minutes in the fastest manner possible. It's not fun and feels like a waste of time. Some of the other ones can be unlocked through exploits. For example, there's a race to eat gems but if you bring in a level 50 character with the vacuum ability you can suck them all up almost instantly and obliterate them. There is a final boss, which is cool, but then the game kicks you out to the menu screen when there could have been more. I appreciate the variety, the various mechanics in the quests, and the tough corridor navigation parts are cool. The enemy fights and some of the exploration could have been a bit better, but overall this is probably the best game in this series, even though the second game has cooler world design and ambience.
Sparkle 3 Genesis is better than its predecessor, due to its clear direction and manual revolution mechanic. Still, the product instantaneously loses all its entertainment value when players reach the unbeatable level three. Whether it is due to a design or technical flaw, said level's quota can not be completed to full due to there being missing elements in the mission area, therefore making progress come to a screeching and permanent halt. This video game is considered unplayable and unpolished to an apparent fault due to said listed error.
