I played quite some time on this game, especially as a beta tester during its development. It is best enjoyed in a group of 4 friends:

that enjoy spaceships
with 4 controllers
looking for some challenge: game is definitively not easy by default if you do not activate any help
ready to shout at the others mistakes: it is never your fault of course when you eat your own missiles in the face :)
ready to enjoy the small references (/easter eggs?) in the narration
bonus: with some beverages/food not too far
You'll be able to have several good gaming nights with plenty of laughs before vanquishing all ennemies in the game. For people unable to play at the same location the remote Steam play is working without any issue: tested with people across 2 differents continents. You could also play it as a solo thanks to the BOTs provided (the Gunner bot is a real killer and helped me take the best score for one level) but it's definitively better with friends. TLDR; a really good indie game to keep you busy for several nights of gaming with friends
Has a lot of depth with 40 separate missions and lots of different actions for each of the 4 roles (pilot / gunner / engineer / comms). Although it can be tricky at first just getting used to all the different controls for each role. I found it helped to do a screen shot of all the controls on the F1 key and display that on a second monitor if you have one. I recommend spending a good length of time on the tutorial mission just getting used to those controls to avoid dying a lot when you actually do the 1st real mission. Best played as 2P/3P/4P local coop, although we play online using Steam's Remote Play Together or Parsec which is also free and a bit better imo. Note that more than 1 person can occupy the same role, which I see as a feature rather n bug as it allow 2 people to be gunner at time and they can just focus on 1 of the 2 turrets each. Its easy to instantly switch between roles to launch that quick mine or overcharge the shield etc. AI occupies roles you leave vacant but its quite dumb, but is quick to launch a repair drone if you get damaged etc.
I really love this genre of game, asymmetrical controls and mechanics where you all have to work together to figure out the puzzles. This game does it very well, and has a wonderful amount of depth in the mechanics so there is plenty to figure out. We've been gradually sorting things out and having fun laughing at ourselves blundering our way along. The humor of the game is great as well, and so far has been family friendly. We look forward to working our way through to the end of the game.
