Just say "No!" Don't let the look of the nice asteroid assets and low price fool you. This game is a complete waste of your money, but more importantly it is a bigger waste of your time. * Important Note: Playing this game will leave your computer with a massive memory leak long after you exit the game. Rebooting your computer will be required to stop the memory leaks. Ugh. The controls are ridiculously flawed and make no sense what-so-ever making this game nothing but a massive frustration to try to play. There are no controller options, no sound options, no keys to bind. The game offers other graphics options and resolution options but changing them and hitting "apply" only changes it until the next time you start the game or go back to the main menu from the game. A complete disaster that looks, feels and seems like nothing but a very novice developer who purchased an asset package of asteroids and placed them in a ring, but then had no idea on how to code controls into the game to give any kind of enjoyable playability. "Pop it up on Steam and put a 99 cent price tag on it" seems to the be the popular choice of so many developers who want to try and sell their incomplete learning projects these days on Steam. This wouldn't even be a good deal if it were FREE because it's just frustrating and a waste of time. My Score: 0. Incomplete mess that feels and plays like a broken project the developer gave up on but for some reason decided to package up and try and sell on Steam.
«Space Shaft»
You just fly around asteroids nothing more.
❌❌The gameplay basically just involves flying through asteroids, which is really boring ❌❌ Verdict: Terrible , [strike] Bad [/strike], [strike] Mediocre [/strike], [strike] Decent [/strike], [strike] Good [/strike] , [strike] Very Good [/strike] (Rating scale for short games, retro indie simulator games and similar)
If you'd like to see more of my reviews, you can find them on my curator page:CuratorKingViking and on my group: GroupKingViking If you have any questions about my reviews, feel free to ask.I'm happy to answer them.
Szkoda
I'm not really sure if Space Shaft is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, but given the review manipulation/fake reviews on the game, it's likely... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. All you do is fly around a (probably asset flipped) asteroid field, that's it. No objectives, nothing, just fly around. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Space Shaft is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
This is a non game. Something someone challenged themselves to do in a weekend to learn a game engine then thought they might be able to sell for some easy cash.
