Despite being an older game, it still has its charm. Puzzle game with pleasant and colorful graphics, the soundtrack is also good. I would like to point out that it is not a game suitable for everyone, the difficulty increases as the levels go by. Currently its full price is not in line with the market, so I recommend taking it on a discount. My rating 7/10
Master reboot was an amazing game. Amazing art style. Great story. wonderful gameplay. Soul Axiom is nothing of it and it hurts to realize that. The game is beautifully crafted. But it is aiming to be too high class. It is painfully clear after some hours how much of the graphics got reused over and over again. The Level design is horrible. Actually horrible! The maps are confusing - and not deriberately difficult but just badly crafted. Mazes that make no sense, are repetitive and confusind. On top of that, it lacks play testing direly. There are quite some corners where you just get stuck and have to restart that level - with none of your progress saved! Some puzzles are very very good. But most levels rely on backtracking through empty, boring levels that look as if thesy had to be created on the basis of stock assets. The whole gameplay is based on backtracking and repetition after repetition and wuite a lot of trial and error until you find by accident what to do. It is realls too bad that this is what came out as a successor of Master Reboot. That game was onle 25% as long but sooooo much better!

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 3 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
If so, just make sure to grab the reboot instead.
TLDR Although focusing more on the puzzles than its predecessor, Soul Axiom still fails the execution despite the interesting concept. [15/20⭐, 19h🏅, 2/5💡] Context Soul Axiom is an exploration game with some puzzle elements. A sequel of Master Reboot (which I’ve just recently played), it takes place after its events in a similar virtual world where memories can be uploaded to (although the connection to the prequel's events is minimal). Writing The action takes place inside Elysia (the successor of Soul Cloud), where the player spends most of the time collecting memories of different characters. Likewise Master Reboot, most of the game you don’t know who you’re playing as, or why you’re doing what you’re doing. Part of the fun is connecting the memories to build the narrative, although the absolute lack of context in the beginning was a risky decision (and I’m not completely convinced that it is all consistent in the end). Aesthetics The visuals are very rough, and didn’t really make it for me. Levels are often too dark, too bright, too foggy, or all of the above. Master Reboot at least had the excuse of the virtual world being corrupted, so this passed for a feature rather than a limitation. Each level has its unique style connected to the memory, although often it feels the devs just wanted to try out different sets.
(I guess an ice palace is a metaphor for being in a coma…?)
Again likewise Master Reboot, there are some corrupt levels that take place deeper in Elysia, although this time they seem to be more connected to the memory in question. Gameplay On this end Soul Axiom tried to go further than the predecessor, introducing different powers that manipulate the world in different ways (something resembling Q.U.B.E.). While at first this seemed to have potential, it quickly becomes clear that there is nothing interesting in the mechanics. Basically each power can only be applied on specific objects that glow in the corresponding power. So solving levels amounts to finding glowing objects, changing to the correct power, and shoot. These puzzles range from boring to annoying, and often you’re randomly doing stuff without even having feedback about what is happening
(worst case being the mansion level)
. Although to be fair, there are a few exceptions
(the apartment level was kind of interesting)
You can die, and will respawn on a checkpoint. The game only auto-saves when a level is completed, so mid-level progress is not saved, you’ll respawn in the hub after quitting. You cannot restart levels, you have to quit the game and return to the hub. In principle this shouldn’t be a problem since there are no deadends, was it not for the amount of bugs (including getting stuck in corners, clipping through walls, having interactions that become irresponsive, ...). Value It took me about 19h to beat the game (including all achievements), so I think the price tag is fair despite its flaws (although I bought it at a sale). There are multiple endings, depending on a last-minute decision and the collectibles found. There is a single progress slot. You can revisit (most) previous chapters by end-game, and after finishing the game you get back to the hub. So unlike Master Reboot you don’t need to restart the game to get missed achievements. Achievements are related to progressing the story, finding hidden collectibles, and passing some levels without dying, all very doable. Again, while I don’t see me doing it, the game would be replayable only for the “experience”. PS: Despite the Steam warning, the game works in recent macOS versions.
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
If you've played Master Reboot, you know what to expect here. The story is a jumbled mess, and the puzzles are terrible, with the primary difficulty being figuring out what they even want you to do. With so many better options out there, it's hard to recommend this one.
