A lackluster bullying tale. Story: You play as Amy. Amy was a high school bully and she picked on a girl named Holly, who no longer having the strength to endure her attacks takes her own life. After some time you wake up in an unknown place and find yourself stalked by Holly's ghost who wants revenge and try to get rid of her by performing a ritual to rid her spirit. The story of You Deserve is horrible, there's no other way to put it. It's a noble concept to cover a topic like bullying, but it requires a keen sense of understanding the topic which is clear the developer does not cause everything is surface level. You're at first not aware of what's happening, but very quickly you pick up on what's going on with notes scattered throughout which are incredibly poorly written and barely expand the story whatsoever. Also Amy is not only a despicable character due to the bullying she dished out, but she's also as stupid as a sack of dirt. It's actually quite laughable how badly her character is written and the horrendous voice acting (more on that a bit later} doesn't help whatsoever to root for this character. Graphics: Visually You Deserve is like a cross of a few different locations all of which look incredibly bad. You start off in a medieval esque crypt which makes to sense considering this story is about high school bullies and later on the locations you visit like a part, school and a decrepit house all look all shades of horrible. The lighting especially is horrible cause everything feels like pitch black and your light sources barely illuminate anything and since you have to traverse an insane amount of ground later on, you can easily start doing loops over and over again, not knowing you haven't gone down the right path. Audio: I'll begin with the voice acting, cause it's by far the worst voice acting I have ever heard. The actress that voices Amy feels like she's about to fall asleep and there's plenty of times she pronounces words wrong. In the first 5 minutes of the game she pronounces the word "joke" as "Yok" to give you an idea of what to expect. The rest of the audio design is horrible as well. The music is incredibly unfitting, one of the tracks use when you're chased sounds like it came out of Crash Bandicoot and the other music is just as bad. Audio effects especially sound bad cause they don't feel properly balanced cause certain sound effects are louder than everything else like Wind Howling is louder than Amy talking. Gameplay: You Deserve is basically a key hunt. You are locked into an area, you're forced to find items to get past a block and avoid Holly while you look for the items you need, that's the basic gist. I don't mind key hunts in horror games, if there's a bit more to do, but You Deserve makes this process incredibly tedious. First of all let's begin with the item hunting. The first few areas are pretty small and it's easy to quickly track down what you need to advance, but when you reach the park area, then the game becomes downright infuriating. It's a giant, pitch black levels that requires quite a few items and honestly I was so confused cause it felt like I was doing marathon laps trying to track down the items I need and there's no clear indication of where these items are, you have to be as thorough as possible to advance. Holly's AI is also incredibly stupid. She runs super slow and acts more like an annoyance than an actual threat, however she is also glitchy and in the house level she can just sort of glitch and kill you and that's just lovely considering I love cheap deaths. Verdict: You Deserve is not a good game and not worth the dollar it's asking for. It's take on bullying is horrible, gameplay is boring and tedious and just everything about it sucks. If you wanted a nuanced, horror themed take on the subject you're not going to find it here. Final Rating: 2/10 Pros: + Unintentionally hilarious Cons: - Horrendous voice acting - Incredibly tedious gameplay - Horrible graphics - Audio mixing is poor - Story is by the numbers and incredibly predictable If you liked this review please consider joining https://steamcommunity.com/groups/completingthebacklog and https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ImperialReviews
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
Eléggé megosztó ez a játék számomra. Ha röviden akarnám összefoglalni akkor a ' Semmi Közepén ' címet adnám neki. Koncepció nélküli bolyongás a nagy sötét térben. Legalábbis a játék elég tetemes része ebből áll. Tele van hibával is, volt hogy újra kellett töltenem mert nem történt semmi. Amolyan megúszós szaga van a dolognak. A 10-ből 4 pontot adnék neki. Grafika is harmatgyenge. Sztori felejthető, kiszámítható. Csak a kihívás miatt nem hagytam félbe. Jó szívvel nem ajánlanám senkinek, de lebeszélni sem akarok senkit. Én nem venném meg újra.

I really wanted to like this game cause it has potential, but it's too dark to see anything, making me unable to find what I needed to progress in the story
