Is sonic origins the most convenient way to play the original games? Yes. Is it the best way to play them? No. I'll give credit where credit is due, Sonic origins has definitely improved since it's very mixed release back in 2022. However, many issues are still present such as the main menu islands bloating up the specs for seemingly no good reason (For low end pcs & laptops it's basically impossible to play the game without using a mod to remove them or optimize them because oh boy these islands LOVE crashing the game), the fact that u can't map certain keys such as the spacebar and MANY bugs that were not patched. You should ONLY buy this game when it's on discount because paying $30 for a collection of games u used to be able to buy at a much lower price is ridiculous. Not to mention the issues it has that were never in the original games.
i like it a lot! it aint perfect but this is easily the definitive way to play the classic sonic games, although the price is a bit too much, get this only on sale

Outside of Sonic 2 all these games were pretty tedious to play back in the 90s and no amount of infinite continues and improved graphical upgrades really change that almost 40 years later. Only pick up this pack if its heavily discounted.

I do not know how a game from the 1990s could ever be paired with a main menu that hits a max of 15 frames on a 630 I will state that a 630 GPU is a LOT and this 630 GPU can pirate (steal) all 16 games in this collection for FREE, I did not have to buy this but now that I have purchased it: I can legaly emulate all the games in this "definitive" experience without using 100% of a 630 GPU and STILL having the worst performance in the MAIN MENU HOW IS THE MAIN MENU LACKING OPTIMISATION? This isn't an excusable thing and I haven't even mentioned how there is no setting to lower the graphical demand of THE MAIN MENU, this is the thing you need to play the game that costs $45 aud and the main menu is literally making the game unusable for a computer that is equal to an Xbox 360 in power, a console that can ALSO emulate all 16 games in the collection that is the only legal way to play em
