I'm going to open by stating something that a lot of people struggle/complain about: In Sonic The Hedgehog (forwardly referred to as "Sonic 1") pushing the directions "Up, Down, Left, Right" on the title screen in either Anniversary or Classic Mode will cause a ring sound to play. Pressing start will bring you to the Map Select/Options/Sound Test menu, where you can turn off the Spindash. You can also set the player count to "00" and summon Tails so you can play with a friend! With that aside, the actual review. This is a pretty good beginner collection. Obviously, because the Christian Whitehead versions were rebuilt there are some very good quality of life improvements. Sonic 1 will allow you to Spindash, Sonic 2 includes Tails' flying ability as player controllable, and many of the Special Stages are much smoother than their Genesis counterparts. The extra animations are beautiful, and if you have Sonic Origins Plus (SO+), the ability to play the Gamegear games is pretty cool. Now, on the bad side, we have the save system. It's very clunky and intrusive, and I personally would have preferred to pair up whoever instead of just "X with Tails." There's also the infamous music change in Sonic 3, but I don't personally feel qualified to speak on that. Finally, there are a few glitches introduced by the rebuild of the games. For example, in the original Sonic 2 the duck pillars in Aquatic Ruins Zone won't rise until the game knows you're in the center of the arena. In Sonic 2 Origins, they rise immediately and you can just hop on one and Spindash into Eggman, and in Chemical Plant you just jump onto him and vibrate until he explodes. I give it a 7/10, it's a bit messy but it works and it's still fun to play, especially as a first introduction to the games. Entirely worth the $20. I hope this helps y'all!
