Game constantly crashes on both my and my kids PC. Can't recommend for now.
Although the game is old, I only bought it in 2026 on a whim seeing the cheap Steam sale, so this is an up-to-date review. Honestly, this game is amazing. I cannot recommend it enough to anyone! It can be played be a casual Sonic fan, a sweaty racing game player, or a group of friends looking for a quick laugh. This is due to it being an overall great game, with natural feeling fun mechanics (unlike clunky CrossWorlds), a weird but varied roster, and graphics that hold up so well today. This is the best kart racer officially available to us PC players due to missing out on Mario and Crash Bandicoot, although some users argue that this game is even better. And if you are considering this game on another device, I would not suggest it as the PC port is the definitive way to play with the most characters and the most active community (I can always seem to get a near full race lobby within 2 minutes, but it may be the only only one xD). The skill floor is low allowing families and casuals to have fun (especially with local co-op), whilst the skill ceiling is so high allowing mastery and an insane but rewarding 8/10 difficulty 100%. I personally am attempting this and only have the infamous 'Yokozuna' achievement left which I am NOT looking forward to. Some worse aspects however include: - Abilities aren't varied or fun enough - Little to no modding - Expert mode AI is often more frustrating and RNG-based rather than challenging - Some users struggle launching the game upon purchase but easy fixes exist - I sometimes get random white flashes and then the game goes slo-mo, but it is very short and happens rarely Overall, I highly recommend this game for literally every type of player. I wasn't even a Sonic or kart racing fan before this! Side note: Do try look for a sale as the game can get very cheap, sites like SteamDB track historical lows, and the collection edition comes with every DLC except from YogsCast which honestly is a skip anyways.

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 9: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Отличная гоночная карт-игра. Возможно далеко не лучшая из всех что есть, но определённо запустить покататься можно, вполне в духе своего времени игра сделана
Para que chingados nesecita sonic un coche pa correr nomam....

significantly better than mario kart
Bruh, the game doesn't even want to boot up, I've tried in at least 2 PCs and neither my old one or this brand new one wanted to run the game.
The excitement of fun, with friends.
This is a very fun racing game with an awesome transforming mechanic and transforming stages on each lap (not all does that but most of them are). Honestly, I think this game is way better than mario kart thanks to the transforming mechanic. However, there is one huge questionable thing about the game: The characters. At first, it feels normal. The game have sonic, shadow, aiai, bd joe, beat, etc. They also have a lot obscure character too like vyse from skies of arcadia, ryo hazuki from shenmue, joe musashi from shinobi and more. After that, you think that character is actually pretty cool (which it is) and there is nothing wrong. And then you checked out the bottom section of the character which have shogun from total war shogun, general winter from company of heroes, ralph from the movie wreck it ralph, f**king team fortress is in this game because why not (Honestly, that is my favorite character in the game), and the most confusing and baffling decision sega has ever made, danica pattrick. Out of all the character that sega can choose, they decided to pick a real life race driver for the game. WHY??? WHY THEY CHOOSE DANICA PATTRICK OVER OTHER SEGA CHARACTER THEY CAN CHOOSE??? SEGA COULD HAVE CHOOSE KIRYU FROM YAKUZA OR CHARACTERS FROM PERSONA BUT NO, THEY ADD A CHARACTER THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEGA. WHYYYY???? Beside that weird characters, the game is fantastic. Must play if you love racing game or mario kart.
Better experienced in single-player, Sonic Racing Transformed is a tough but fun arcade racer. Working at unlocking everything is rewarding, and after each failure at completing a challenge makes you want to attempt it again and again. The game teaches you (without annoying and intrusive instructions) to be a better racer. The game isn't perfect, but it is one of my favourites.
