NOTE: These are just my initial impressions on the Early Access version. I've got high hopes for this game, regardless of the bad first impression. However, in its current state, I can't recommend it. The story and intended gameplay, as far as I know what it's supposed to be, is awesome and very inventive. The game itself, as it is, is fairly unplayable. You start the game, have no instructions and the 'settings' menu doesn't work (perhaps it's not implemented yet). You have, a kind of, 3rd person view and when you look around certain points of interest on your screen might show up, but you don't have a cursor or pointer or anything of the sort to determine what location you're actually looking at. This also makes reacting in a hurry quite impossible. In my first play
I switched view to one of the other characters and saw my original char slide over the floor, get dressed and rise up to his waist in the ceiling. He proceeded to float towards the main room in his default rigging pose, until I switched view to him. Once the emergency activated he 'switched' to run mode which consisted of him making a weird crouch and 'running' as if he had a pilates ball stuck between his legs, making him look as though he was in a hurry to find the nearest toilet.
That being said, the game isn't expensive at all and I believe that, by the time its finished, these (and other) issues will be fixed and we are going to have one hell of an experience on our hands.
https://youtu.be/Xp0coV83PA8 Great premise. There is a non-linear, dual story with just enough info to keep you going in the right direction. Wake up from Cryosleep, everything is screwed up. Figure out why. The characters control a little strangely, and the contextual buttons don't feed back to let you know that you have hit them. I love it though. I love the aesthetic, the idea, even the dying. Great stuff. Graphics suit the gameplay, sound design is on point. I wish there was voice acting.
Great game !! If you are hardcore into old Sci-Fi movies then you really need to try this game ! :D
Sonder. is less of a game, and more an interactive movie for you to piece together. The concept of the game is relatively new and it's much better than "Life is Strange" or "Her Story" for example, and it has much more different endings and content in it. The story is great, and very intriguing. All in all, I highly recommend it, 10/10
https://youtu.be/1vC4JBVpQLY My first impressions of this game are good , ofcourse this is only episode one of many that will make up the whole story . Firstly i want to point out that the settings menu is not available yet . i spent a good 5minutes trying to get it to work so i could adjust the audio .. Maybe having it grayed out would be better . Stats on my first play - took me around 11minutes (not long) but only found around 42% of the story , which means if you love the genre and the gameplay you will most likely replay untill you have found everything . Eventhough my first run was 11minutes i now have 1.3 hours played. I did initially experiense some camera control issues however a restart seemed to fix this issue . Pros - Good graphics - Runs great - rewind feature (top notch) - multiple characters to play - storyline - looking promising - Amazing price cons - no settings menu (yet) - some of the sounds (alarms) are extreamly loud ^ settings would have helped here - short misson (does have replayablity , with multiple characters which can bump up time played) - No voice acting ( and i mention this because the on screen text is really fast and easy to miss sometimes ) Final thoughts , This is a solid start for an early access game . i do feel asthough the mission could have been fleshed out a little but as this is only the first episode to set the tone of the game i can only hope for more in the next . It is clear that this is a game coming from devs that love the game they are creating . and i cannot wait for Episode 2 . For an early access title , taking into concideration all of the above i would have to score this game at the time of this review 7.5/10
Not playable!
I highly recommend this game after a short play! The art style, sound and story are great. Controlling the character is a bit clunky for me but you get used to it. It is still in early access so there are things that will be improved. It definitely deserves more attention. Looking forward to playing final version and new episodes.
WOo.....i believe it is a great game in future...i love such type of game ..but there is an very serious control problem in the game atm...(the problem still not be fixed until now)....i can use WASD for moving ..it okay..HOWEVER, it is too difficult to use mouse to turn around ..it make me sick and feel headache seriously....the character walks look like a person who drunk and leads i can't move the character correctly and smoothly and v difficult to focus to choose option or action i want to do..it cause my character always waste much time for walking from one place to another one...and can't finish everything i want within limit timing.....pls improve the control setting (in aspect of using mouse to turn around) immedicately...otherwise, i believe no one can play it smoothly and happy.
So far, I'm really enjoying this game. It's in Early Access, so it's not fully polished, but the story and the idea of it is great. Once I figured out how to use the rewind feature of the game, I started having a lot more fun with it. It's definitely not an easy game, I've definitely had points where I got really frustrated and I didn't know what was going on. Sonder doesn't follow any formula from any other game I've played and you can't go into it expecting it to be like anything you've played before. Overall, this game is has really challenged me and forced me to think differently about the way I approach action RPGs. It's pretty cerebral and it requires a certain amount of critical thinking. There's definitely suspense and that feeling of anticipation or unease, but doesn't have the jump-scare factor that a lot of horror games rely on. It's not too fast paced, but also doesn't drag on. It's a hard game to describe and it's even harder to master, but it's unlike any other game I've played before and it definitely exceeded my expectations. If you want a giant, open-world RPG with bosses you beat by memorizing some sequence of attacks, this is not a game for you. If you're looking for an innovative indie game that comes from a studio that really cares about input from fans and gives you something different and new to try, definitely consider playing this game. If you don't want to deal with any glitches and want a game that is perfect and already done, you might want to wait until it is out of Early Access. But if you want to play a game where you'll have a say in changes in the game and where your input is considered and valued by the studio, I highly recommend Sonder.
