About
Solarpunk is a survival game in a technologically advanced world of floating islands. Alone or together with 4 friends, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore distant islands with your own airship.
Use sunlight, wind and water to create an energy system and automate your processes like gathering resources and watering your plants.
Design your dream home base with a wide range of materials and decorations. You’re free to build cozy spaces, add tiny details, and make your island feel just like home.
These buildings were crafted by our amazing community in the demo!

Generate electricity using wind and solar energy. Weather conditions affect how much energy you produce, so you’ll need to plan ahead. Store energy in batteries and use wireless power to keep your base running smoothly.

Play solo or with friends. Everyone has their own inventory, and you can decide whether to build something together or create your own little corner in the sky.

In Solarpunk, you live in symbiosis with animals. There is no exploitation, only coexistence. Pigs, for example, will dig up truffles if treated well. Growing fruits and vegetables is your main source of food. Plant seeds in the ground and harvest them once they’re fully grown.

Automate your tasks using transport drones to gather resources, giving you more time to build and explore your skybound home.

Each player can build their own airship. Use it to travel to surrounding islands and discover new resources.

I want to like this game. I really do. I was having so much fun with it, right up until I got in the air. I can't describe how deep I haaaaaaate the flying. I loathe it. Piloting that brick mistakenly called an airship was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in games lately. Its controls bounce from tweeker mid high to sluggish, the camera is all over the place and I have to fight to get it behave. Nothing cozy about that.

The game looks lovely. Nice chill vibes. It runs smoothly. There's not much here to complain about, really. But, on the other side of it, there's really not much to praise it for either. It's really just... dull. I love a chill game and comfy vibes. But this just misses the mark at being at all interesting. The idea of airships for these sorts of survival games has been done before, and the idea of sustainable energy as a focus isn't different enough from other similar survival-crafting games. I played this for about four or five hours before hitting the, "What's the point?" thought in my head, and pushed on a bit further trying to find it. Eventually I just gave up on it. So, nothing wrong with this game, but also just, nothing worth the time either.
This is for specific type of people. The chill and wokie types. If you are into survivor games, this is not for you.
I really wanted to like this game. The trailers were put together amazingly. The rest of the game? Not so much. Solarpunk feels like it's barely ready for early access, let alone a full release. If all you want to do is craft buildings visually, maybe this game is for you, but otherwise there's no point to anything. The story? You're alone on an island (or with a friend) and you build an airship.... only to find a robot who offers zero conversation and just wants you to trade with him. The things he wants? Only obtainable on individual islands that you need to visit 1-2 times ever to setup a mining node or gather a unique plant to take home. There's zero incentive or drive to actually want to progress through the upgrade tree. Okay so your base. There's hunger/thirst/health, some survival aspects? Not really. The initial berries you get are enough to sustain you forever. You can build up gardening and watering, but it's kind of pointless because the only time you need to actually grow is to meet one time trade requirements per plant. The rest of agriculture is just optional, or for the equally pointless husbandry. Some decor requires gardening mats but that's it. Setting up large farming rigs with water would have been interesting if there was a larger goal behind it. 90% of what you unlock from the research table are decor/cosmetic only. The power management seemed fun from the trailers. There even was an early stage where you have to juggle solar panels and batteries to make your pointless agricultural setup run 24/7. That was fun, for about an hour until you unlock wind turbines which technically ebb & flow in power output, but only +/-10% of their efficiency and essentially fully make solar and batteries obsolete. Your next wind upgrades? The final energy unlock in the game doesn't even require any of the advanced materials or components you learned how to make along the way. It's just basic wood & iron. I regret buying the game for $22. It feels more like a $5-10 game in its current state.
I want to like this game. I really do. Right now I wish that there was "Neutral" recommendation. This game has an incredible atmosphere, some cool designs and overall cozyness that we were promised. Then why "Negative"? Because the game is RAW. It feels like Early Access despite being released full. Yeah, we have all of the content, that's true... But the sheer amount of bugs is astounding. And what's the worst is that devs don't want to fix them! They either don't respond to your messages about bugs or essentlially say to you "deal with it". For example, you have a problem with everyday thunderstorms? Try removing weather station. Didn't help? Try not to sleep. Didn't help? Well, deal with it, it's not THAT bad, you are exagerrating. And why should I ignore certain aspects of gameplay, why should I not use the features the devs themselves put in the game because of the bug? And that's what happens with every bug out there. Oh, and they are also adding new features too! If you look at the to-do list... Well, you would have enough material to make another game like this. And they called it "the full release". You know, if the devs put this game into "Early Access" and put half the price I would recommend this game. But having such raw product with such high price and such unresponsive devs... Yeah, I'd suggest either wait a bit or buy this game on sale.
While the concept for the game is pretty interesting as of right now it feels very skin and bones. I know it's in early access, but there's not too much to the game if you aren't taking things super slowly. I do enjoy the idea and am hoping down the line it changes and becomes more than it is now. A lot of emptiness on the islands, the automation comes basically near the end of the game, and somethings feel very stiff. Pros: -Decent environmental art-style -Unique concept of airship travel for a survival crafting game -Nice sound effects -A wind mechanic though not fully integrated is interesting Cons: -Clunky animations -Customizations don't work for everyone on the server -Achievements are server owner side for the most part -Stiff airship (no real animations to it) -Most mechanics are too simple -Not a lot to the game as of now -Repetitive at moments and hard to get back into I do somewhat like the game, but in its current condition I'd not recommend this game to others. Hoping for more down the line to make me change my mind on this. If interested follow for now and see how it goes.
