It's a really intricate and complex game, depending on how much micromanaging you want to put into it. But once you get the grasp of it, it's really fun! Got it for 80 NOK ten years ago and never once regretted it. Recommended!
Very fun and easy to get into. You quickly pass hours playing and making money, so I definitely recommend this jawn.

Very in depth game! if you like money management and making a successful company then this is the game for you.
One of the best games on Steam in my opinion. It's an indie? Yes, but it is actually a very functioning game, complete, very low bug count, no sense of "just a trend game who will die in a bit". And still with a one-man-team, the game receives an update almost every week. This is an example of how to develop and maintain a game. So 10/10 for the game concept and the developer behind it. Short summary: Gameplay 9/10 - Excellent, complete, sometimes too difficult to manage Multiplayer Experience 7/10 - Not the best multiplayer experience (not many players online), but genius approach Graphic, Art 7/10 - Excellent for a one-man-dev, but nothing special compared to bigger prod. Music 8/10 - Relaxing, catchy, I often have it in mind while I'm doing things irl. Overall: 10/10 - Must play if you like tycoons, management games. I came from Mad Games Tycoon 2, I will not say this game is better, but it's different: if you like to only do games, play MGT2, if you like more HR, broad management and IT field, choose Software Inc. Long Review Regarding the game gameplay, the core loop is like every tycoon: start poor, get bigger, bigger enough to buy more, until you dominate or collapse in debt. But what makes this game special is how this loop is implemented: You are free of doing everything in the tech industries, from manufacturing to software print, from antivirus to console operating systems, from 2D editors to videogames. Everything has a sense, and you can choose to navigate through a path and become a specialist of one type, or go wide and start to spam any kind of software to gain money from everywhere. But not only is a create, develop and repeat. Everything can help you doing other things, for example: You want to develop a Game, you will need an Editor for every asset, so you need to license a third-party software and pay royalties, or you can develop your own editor and use it in-house to avoid that. I tried multiplayer once, and felt very good. I like how our time is independent, and we will gather at midnight all together, so if I need to skip the day quicker, I can do it and maybe build at the midnight, and the other player can do the opposite if he needs maybe to hire somebody, or build a new room. Everything felt good and flawless, the pace is also well balanced to not have many dead boring moments. I just wish to have more friends who like this kind of games, or find more players online, but I also know that this genre is a niche and will never have an high player count.
It's pretty good
I keep coming back to this game. Updates aren't frequent, but sometimes ya just get an itch to build a company from scratch.
I have been playing Software Inc for a long time. I love Software Inc and love the building side of the game. It took me a while to understand the game at first. Very challenging on my first few playthroughs. Highly recommend for a simulation games
One of the best tycoon games I've played, period. I return from time to time as this is my comfort game and can't have enough, there's infinite replayability which is I reaaaaly value in this type of games. It's deep, updated to this day, straight up fun and worth every penny. If you're looking for a game that'll give you at least 1:1 money-time ratio and you like tycoons, just buy it and support the creator, it's truly worth it.
