In 2025 if a game like this could be created with better graphics and everything exactly as this one.... would be the best fighting game of history.... and I am not exaggerating.... I mean it... 10/10
A good port of a classic Neo Geo game, the input lag can make or break some matches. Especially when you're going up against Geese or M Bison. But, its good to see one of the better fighting games from a portable console get a port to modern day platforms like Steam. The character roster was huge for 1999 and its sad that SNK vs Capcom never got the attention it truly deserved back then. The anime styled art is also timeless and the animation is some of the best I've ever seen for a fighting game like this. The music is also fantastic with 8-Bit renditions of themes from all of your favorite characters! Plus, this title is an excellent holdover until Capcom Fighting Collection 2 gets ported over to Steam.
overall a good port, i haven't had any major issues. two small things though, being that a) it doesn't have innate online capabilities (which is fine, the fact it has multiplayer at all is nice) b) when you mess with the sound, it only changes it for the game itself, not the menu, so it can be REALLY loud. don't let the chibi art style turn you away from this really cool game :)
In my opinion the best crossover between Capcom and SNK, CVS2 is more fun to play for the multiplayer aspect, since thats a 6 button traditional vs the two button style of SNK's other fighters on the NeoGeo Pocket but in-terms of celebrating both companies SVC is superior. You get a more varied roster here than the arcade version, featuring more obscure characters like BB Hood from Darkstalkers or Akari Ichijou from the Last Blade series. Unlike the arcade version, this also features various modes like a single player campaign where you upgrade characters with custom moves ala Super Smash Brothers Wii U, and several minigames featuring even more characters not see in the arcade version like Metal Slug or Ghost and Goblins.
"Jogo de 1999 se não me engano. Simples, divertido e nostálgico. "
This is an incredibly fun 2d fighter that I honestly love everytging about. Originally a 1999 crossover fighting game for the Neo Geo Pocket Color, it still holds up even now as an amazing game. I was 7 when thus came out, and i would have loved this! Capcom vs snk 2 was one of my favorite figting games ever and this would have paired nice as a hand version. So lets just break down why its so good. Great selection of characters. Move set and fighting feels great and definitely works well with the 2 buttons the neo geo pocket color had. Music is awesome. The dialogue is one of the best I've seen in a fighting game. I mean I literally laughed out loud several times reading it. And even the graphics were great for its time. Im not sure how much they amplified them for this launch, and i haven't played anytging else for the neo geo pocket, but compared to gameboy color games from this era, this game both looks and sounds great, and still holds up today. Overall I give this one an honest solid 10/10 for what it is.
Highly Recommended 9/10* Gorgeous and simple pixel art, low amount of colors, but vivid ones, great controls but simple(just one punch and one kick), great moves and animations, good roster, unlockable characters, great but simple music(same as original games but with less details), nice amount of achievements, cheap price, no shady drms, no 3rd party account needed, no online connection required(just to download the game of course), cant complain at all, snk proving once more that they're the best.
Yup, by now I am sure every fighting gamers had played the two famous games related to this one. Which are Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro (aka Part One) and also Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 (aka Part Two). Especially ever since Capcom Fighting Collection 2 remastered (or should I say re-released?) those two magnificent games again for the young and old to enjoy. I am truly happy for this! Feels like experiencing the release of new games, similar just like meeting long lost besties all over again, after all these years!! But did you know this excellent franchise was started with a digital collectible card battle game instead of purely straight fighting? It all happened back in October 21st 1999. SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash was quite a best-seller hit among Neo Geo Pocket owners, which including me. Tee-hee.^^ Long story short. Jumped to December 22nd of the same year, just several days right before Christmas; I got SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium! Yes! This very retro-ish vintage and old but gold game! It was quite a huge thing back then, can you even imagine the hype when two greatest game companies clashes for the first time; with their own assorted trademarks of very best fighters?! It is a crossover fighting game, not a card battle anymore, at that time. Finally! Though I did loved both version, cards or even fight by rounds; still prefers the second one better! Then, SNK made two more of the card battle version. SVC: Card Fighters 2 Expand Edition in 2002, and the latest one was SVC: Card Fighters in 2006 for Nintendo DS. But, I still prefer the SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. Which was released in 2003 for Playstation 2 and Xbox. You can buy SVC Chaos too right here on Steam! Well, hopefully by the time you read this review, it's still available. If it is no longer here, then I am so sorry, because I can never predict the future. It is impossible for me as a mere mortal. Well by that short history lesson, now you know that this game is actually the very first one in term of straight up fighting one-on-one. This game was, and still; my favorites after all these years. Not just by nostalgic values and good ol' days memories aspects, but perhaps because I'm also a chiptune enthusiast. Each and every fighters theme songs are played differently, according to who you are facing to fight and that's awesome enough for me. I'm teary remembering the days I played this, together with my buddies. Some are still around, while few are no longer in this world. While given the chance that we still live among the living, counting our days of borrowed time. Nobody and nothing lasts forever. But fighting gamers will always be around, continuing the legacy from each of our favorite fighting games. That no matter how many franchises or series out there, those games will always teach us to keep on struggling in reality, be at work or even study; with all of your efforts. And the most important things of all: Never Give Up! Many thanks for SNK and Code Mystics. We will always waiting for more signature games from you, as long as the time given for us to stick around. So keep 'em coming! Me and my fighting gamer buddies totally likey! b(^_^)d
