Well, sniper elite starts to look like sniper elite here but there still is some frustrating things. Crawling only works 10% of the time and never when you truly need it. The first few cinematic shots are awful. I don't now if it's because of the Sniper Elite 2 to 3 transition but the feeling got way better while playing the next missions. Some missions still can't truly be done silently (at least without feeling like you're doing it wrong or just needing to wait abnormally long for a single action. No checkpoints at all... How did the previous game handle it so well and this one just simply forgets it ? I wasted so much time doing things all over again because I thought the game was intelligent enough (like the previous one) to save after an objective had been done... but noooo. Gotta do it yourself. I don't understand the penetrating bullets purpose too. They do not change from the regular ones. Tested them on tanks and it did not penetrate anything. I still had to shoot twice so as to destroy the oil tanks. And finally, I don't get why there isn't more silent weapons. We're supposed to be a sniper and the armory was introduced. So why does the only silent weapon existing is the good OG pistol. I understand that it's a way of encouraging the player to use the environment so as to shoot silently without any type of silencers or suppressor but still. Finishing the game and not having anything related to it ? Wasted potential. But there sure was some good stuff too. Like the new lighter that is amazingly useful in some situations. PS : Why did Sniper Elite 2 end with a cliffhanger that is absolutely unrelated to this ?
it go, i am so sniper elite cubed
Pretty sure I wrote a review on this in 2014... So here is a quickie. The graphics were great in 2014, but are showing their age in 2026. The sniping mechanics are similar to other sniper games in that there is a breathing control element with wind and elevation, that scale with harder difficulties. What sets this game apart from other sniper games is the x-ray kill cams, Rebellion's games are famous for, and they are awesome. Most of the maps are on the smaller scale and somewhat linear with an open level design, that do offer areas you can avoid or take on for side objectives and collectables. The story is what you would expect, pretty basic but good enough to give you purpose. You can stealth thru the levels minimizing your kills, including melee kills. I prefer to eliminate everyone on the map. Plenty of collectables I missed on my play throughs. The AI isn't very intelligent and you can just wait them out if you miss a masked shot. The vehicles will instant one shot you on some levels, which can be frustrating. Overall, not a bad game, especially if you pick it up on a sale. I included my first video I made on June 27, 2014 when the game released, so you can skip thru and see combat. This was the first game I played in the series, so I sure what to expect. Something to laugh at anyway. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3725467498 https://youtu.be/Uzprt_eR-aE?si=TYr7Wn_0ml72_HMT
Amazing gameplay with just WICKED awesome cut scenes when you get 1-shot's in the game along with a damn good story!
I think a big problem is they try to make it stealth focused by making you be really careful when you choose to shoot but they take it too far to the point that they give you specfici "nests" to snipe from but if you choose to use them you immediately get detected. Why would I use them in the first place then???
