About
Hi, I’m Niklas – the developer of Small Spaces. My goal is to make a game that puts you into a creative flow without you even noticing. And a lot of the player feedback has been exactly that. So, if you’re looking for a relaxing game to take your mind off stressful thoughts, Small Spaces might be just the creative escape you were looking for :)
Shape the space your way
Turn the small spaces fully upside down with your creativity! Modular kitchens? Loft apartments? Find smart solutions and design unique spaces that are functional and beautiful. Add indirect lighting, plants and more to decorate and personalize your space down to the smallest detail.
Inspired by real places
On Early Access start, you’ll design in 3 different locations:
New York – raw industrial factories and warehouses turned into gorgeous loft apartments with high ceilings and expansive windows.
Berlin – historic apartments with the typical 1900 european charm and beautiful bay windows. Think vintage charm meets quiet elegance.
Tokyo – mid-century inspired simplistic apartments with sliding doors and sometimes warm concrete wall finishes.
Together, these offer 9 apartments, each with a distinct layout and creative feel. More locations and styles will be added throughout Early Access.
Stories that guide
Every space has its own objectives, story and people who live there – ranging from a student in a shared flat to a couple sharing their first apartment together. The objectives inspire to design spaces that are not only pretty, but also practical and give you just enough inspiration to get started while not restricting your creativity.
Carefully crafted high quality assets
The game already features more than 500 furniture and decor items inspired by different styles – including comfy scandinavian beds, unique modern japanese lamps and decoration items from a record player to sewing utensils.
I truly care about original art and all of the beautiful illustrations in the game are hand drawn from an illustrator.
Walk through your creations in first person
Switch to a first-person view to experience your design from the inside – like someone who actually lives there and view your creations as the sunlight shifts from crisp morning to warm golden hour to cozy nighttime with the glow of the indirect lighting you set up.
Unlock new content as you play
You start out with just a portion of tools and furniture at your hand and unlock new content as you complete objectives. Get new materials from stone terrazzo to various wood types and unlock new tools to build loft apartments, modular kitchens or wall panels. The more you create, the more options you gain.
You play life sims mostly for home design
You like relaxing games that spark your creativity
You’re a design lover or architecture nerd
You want to design floor plans from scratch – we’re building a creative mode where you can build your own layouts, but as of now you furnish existing apartments.
You’re expecting to import your own models or textures – that kind of freedom isn’t in the game (yet!)

Very relaxing game. i have notice though if you dont finish unpacking a room and leave the games after saving when you log back in you have to redo the whole thing. other than that its very fun and relaxing
I almost never leave thumbs down, but this game definitely got to me. Pros: - Love the vibe. The graphics are so pretty, though I don't like that things like pillows looked like they were floating. - The placement sounds are so satisfying. Cons: - The controls are THE WORST. This was what broke me. Your WASD moves the camera in large chunks??? Not sure the thought process behind that in a game called "Small Spaces." Perhaps make the camera move smoothly? I was getting sick with how fast it moved me around. And digging through the settings, there was a hold shift for "slow?" I *think* it slowed the camera down a little, but it was negligible. Plus a hold? Why not a toggle? - There are no volume controls. How does a game not have individual sliders for volume types? I had to turn down my overall pc sounds because the music was blasting my face off. - Furniture kept clipping to walls. I couldn't place a table squarely in a smaller space centered in the middle because it kept snapping to one wall or the other. Shift didn't seem to help either, and I didn't see any options to turn snapping off. Like...turning snapping off is a BASIC feature of a decorating game. - And lastly, there are ZERO explanations for what is being chosen when you start a level. I still don't know the difference between the first set of settings. THEN you choose between easy, medium, and hard??? What in the blazes makes a decorating game hard??? Are you going to time me??? Is it just a strangely shaped space? A smaller space? Like...sure, the description of the person we're decorating for is great I guess, but how about a description of what the heck we're choosing between. And why the difference in stars for each? What do the stars mean? Between those frustrations and the wonky camera and controls, I couldn't finish the first level fast enough and quit out. It's early access, so maybe I'll come back if there's improvements, but for now, I'm just disappointed.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I refunded this game, and I wanted to like this game, but it's a bit laggy and there's not much content; I understand it just released and is an early access game, but there's not much sandbox freedom. The "Design" gameplay option is really nice, but there's a lack of options to pick from, and some items you can't even recolour. Also, the colours when recoloured are a bit muted, and you can't change that, despite making a colour "brighter". There's also a shop where you can get more items to use in the Sandbox "Design" mode but you have to purchase them using stars (which you earn 1 every level, but slow grind since there isn't many levels yet). I might come back to this game at a later stage, but for now, I shall be passing on this one. Still a nice game to check out though, if you enjoy Sims or Tenants, or any type of interior decorating games, but at its current state, I cannot fully recommend.
Cute game, but probably not for me. I expected this game to be more about decorating and getting some ideas on how to make a space look good. But in the mode I played, you basically have complete freedom to place and arrange everything yourself. You get some basic requirements and points for things like having a bed or a table, but that's pretty much it. I was hoping for more tips like “this would look better here”, “these things work well together”, or just some ideas based on how real apartments are designed. Instead, it’s basically all up to your creativity. And as someone who was terrible at decorating houses in The Sims, I’m apparently just as bad at this. The game is really cute and relaxing, though, and I’m sure people who love building and decorating will really enjoy it. There’s also an unpacking mode that I haven’t tried yet, so maybe you’ll like that one more!
The style and look of the game is very nice! I do like that it gives you the option to turn on/off guidelines (tells you where to put the item). But having done all the stages in the New York package, I've dealt with enough glitches that have soured my experience enough that I may not bother with the other locations. One of the levels is glitched in a way that the stage won't end/ give me the 'star' even though there are no boxes to be unpacked (I made sure none were hiding), and after looking around online other people were running into the same problem months ago and it's sad to see that it hadn't been fixed in all that time. Other main issues I had were the boxes glitching: the boxes not spawning in and boxes that should be empty are re-opening themselves with duplicate items. If this game was free of these glitches, it would probably be my favorite game. It was say it's in "early access" still, but it's been out since late 2024. These game breaking glitches seem like they should have been fixed by now. In conclusion, when I am forced to essentially dump out (click and drag) 50 items from a respawned duplicate box into a pile on the floor in order to make progress/end the stage in a cozy organization game, it sucks.
I've been wanting this game since I saw it and I was able to get it recently when it went on sale. Honestly I was contemplating if I should really buy but my friends convinced me to and it's the best decision I've made this month. This game is oddly therapeutic for me. Since i got this game, it helps me destress. I usually don't want to play it when i'm stressed but i play it and after spending 3-4 hours, i forget what i was stressed about. I tried using their guides to style the apartment and i felt unfulfilled (because the fun for me is in spending the hours trying different ways to make the house look cute). If i could buy this game again, I would. I don't even mind that it's still under development. If i could afford to, I'd absolutely buy this full price. It is absolutely worth the money. So if you're looking for cute games to spend hours on, this is the game for you.
Game has potential. Is entirely half-baked software-wise unfortunately, and the moment you start to build "too much" (which isn't much at all) lights or anything with shadows or reflections ... Boom, watch your brief Small Spaces career crumble to ash. Game breaking flashing and flickering across all saves. Unfortunately repeating the same sad story as House Flipper. Waste of 12 bucks, and I literally cannot fix the graphics until they fix it... Which, if House Flipper is anything to go by (with a much bigger budget), that could be years or never. When I mentioned this issue on the discord, they said "pls send you PC specs <3". So that basically means we're not getting a fix anytime soon. RIP. Back to Outside The Blocks. Try it, it's a way better cozy builder and it's not glitched to hell. :) And here. Here are my PC specs... But we all know that's not going to fix anything. We're not new here.
63 hours in and still playing! <-- proof point
I had a specific need I was looking for a game like this for; something easy to use that lets me mock up different rooms for comic characters to inhabit. And this is perfect, fit the bill exactly! It's an enjoyable experience otherwise, too. Easy to play, relaxing, lovely to look at. I extra appreciate that all of the art is hand-crafted in this age of plagiarist image generation machines, too.
