About
Hi, I’m Niklas – the developer of Small Spaces. My goal is to make a game that puts you into a creative flow without you even noticing. And a lot of the player feedback has been exactly that. So, if you’re looking for a relaxing game to take your mind off stressful thoughts, Small Spaces might be just the creative escape you were looking for :)
Shape the space your way
Turn the small spaces fully upside down with your creativity! Modular kitchens? Loft apartments? Find smart solutions and design unique spaces that are functional and beautiful. Add indirect lighting, plants and more to decorate and personalize your space down to the smallest detail.
Inspired by real places
On Early Access start, you’ll design in 3 different locations:
New York – raw industrial factories and warehouses turned into gorgeous loft apartments with high ceilings and expansive windows.
Berlin – historic apartments with the typical 1900 european charm and beautiful bay windows. Think vintage charm meets quiet elegance.
Tokyo – mid-century inspired simplistic apartments with sliding doors and sometimes warm concrete wall finishes.
Together, these offer 9 apartments, each with a distinct layout and creative feel. More locations and styles will be added throughout Early Access.
Stories that guide
Every space has its own objectives, story and people who live there – ranging from a student in a shared flat to a couple sharing their first apartment together. The objectives inspire to design spaces that are not only pretty, but also practical and give you just enough inspiration to get started while not restricting your creativity.
Carefully crafted high quality assets
The game already features more than 500 furniture and decor items inspired by different styles – including comfy scandinavian beds, unique modern japanese lamps and decoration items from a record player to sewing utensils.
I truly care about original art and all of the beautiful illustrations in the game are hand drawn from an illustrator.
Walk through your creations in first person
Switch to a first-person view to experience your design from the inside – like someone who actually lives there and view your creations as the sunlight shifts from crisp morning to warm golden hour to cozy nighttime with the glow of the indirect lighting you set up.
Unlock new content as you play
You start out with just a portion of tools and furniture at your hand and unlock new content as you complete objectives. Get new materials from stone terrazzo to various wood types and unlock new tools to build loft apartments, modular kitchens or wall panels. The more you create, the more options you gain.
You play life sims mostly for home design
You like relaxing games that spark your creativity
You’re a design lover or architecture nerd
You want to design floor plans from scratch – we’re building a creative mode where you can build your own layouts, but as of now you furnish existing apartments.
You’re expecting to import your own models or textures – that kind of freedom isn’t in the game (yet!)

I've been wanting this game since I saw it and I was able to get it recently when it went on sale. Honestly I was contemplating if I should really buy but my friends convinced me to and it's the best decision I've made this month. This game is oddly therapeutic for me. Since i got this game, it helps me destress. I usually don't want to play it when i'm stressed but i play it and after spending 3-4 hours, i forget what i was stressed about. I tried using their guides to style the apartment and i felt unfulfilled (because the fun for me is in spending the hours trying different ways to make the house look cute). If i could buy this game again, I would. I don't even mind that it's still under development. If i could afford to, I'd absolutely buy this full price. It is absolutely worth the money. So if you're looking for cute games to spend hours on, this is the game for you.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Game has potential. Is entirely half-baked software-wise unfortunately, and the moment you start to build "too much" (which isn't much at all) lights or anything with shadows or reflections ... Boom, watch your brief Small Spaces career crumble to ash. Game breaking flashing and flickering across all saves. Unfortunately repeating the same sad story as House Flipper. Waste of 12 bucks, and I literally cannot fix the graphics until they fix it... Which, if House Flipper is anything to go by (with a much bigger budget), that could be years or never. When I mentioned this issue on the discord, they said "pls send you PC specs <3". So that basically means we're not getting a fix anytime soon. RIP. Back to Outside The Blocks. Try it, it's a way better cozy builder and it's not glitched to hell. :) And here. Here are my PC specs... But we all know that's not going to fix anything. We're not new here.
This is a really fun and cozy game, especially if you're fond of decorating and figuring out where things go. I must admit though, when I found that guide button, I abused it greatly, but I shall try without that next time! Can easily spend the whole day just playing this.
Nice game but needs lots more QoL features to be fully enjoyable. I love the little stories and furnitures available so far. I'll sadly change my review to not reccomended if the QoL doesn't get better in the upcoming months.
Love this game, very polished for early access. Good price for just the sheer amount of content you get. Worried I would get bored when I first bought the game but even though it has such a simple premise its still kept me occupied for hours!
One of the most fun decorating games I've played. So cozy and I really like that you can arrange stuff pretty realistically, as if it's a real lived-in place.
Very chill experience in the time of great chaos in my life. The only thing I'd alter is the background music as it gets repetitive very fast, however it's still early access, so plenty of time for that. Happy to keep an eye on this little game's future progress.
For an early access game this is great! I enjoyed Tiny Glade, and this has the same vibe, except Tiny Glade can take up a week of your time or an entire day to make a glade, whereas in this you can do as little or as much as you like. I enjoy the way it "levels up", from a single shared room, to larger entire apartments and the different vibes of the locations. The small narratives that go with each space in terms of the people that live there offer a sense of warmth and presence that isnt in other games - where you make a space but there is the sense it is trapped in a desolate time bubble! Yes the controls are absolutely infuriating - but you can work with them and find ways to achieve unique touches by using items in ways that they are absolutely not intended. But these things are to be expected with early access. Its clear the creator is slowly adding more items, and I expect items or features will evolve to make this a richer experience to keep coming back to. It is immensely relaxing, and something that slots into day to day life with ease when you have an hour of downtime to enjoy. Kudos to the developer and thanks for designing this - I look forward to helping support its ongoing development :)
