About
Steady your blade - and spin!
After my last game SUMMERHOUSE, I wanted to make something radically different. Still small, but faster, with numbers, fights and goblins!
The result is SLOTS & DAGGERS, a strange little blend of slot machine and fantasy RPG.
To make this game I combined a lot of things I deeply love – weird fantasy worlds, crude drawings of strange little guys, old school crunchy hiphop drum machines and addictive arcade games that go “PLING PLING PLING” as they spit out little coins – with classic roguelike mechanics.
The features of this game are:
Fun slot machine
Weird fantasy world
4-8 hour campaign
Crude drawings of strange little guys
Retro visuals
Crunchy hip hop drum machines
‘Egg arena’ high score mode for the truly determined
Addictive arcade gameplay that goes “pling” a lot
Numbers! Fights! Goblins!
As with SUMMERHOUSE, please keep in mind this game is a solo project - small, focused, and made with care. It’s meant to be short and sweet and doesn’t have the amount of content as games built by bigger teams over years, but I think it’s a fair deal!
I hope you have a good time with SLOTS & DAGGERS <3
Cheers,
Friedemann

A random indie discovery, yet an amazing one! Highly addictive concept of slot-machine based duels involving well-thought gameplay mechanics (item synergies, combos, consumables allowing rerolls or heals etc.). First runs you'll get steamrolled, but the farther you go, the more casino chips you receive each run which allow you to buy permanent upgrades (critical hit chance, add 1 then 2 more slot wheels to your original 3 only, more HP regen each turn and so on). The story makes hilariously no sense whatsoever, probably on purpose, but does a roguelike really need one? Not really. There's also a challenge mode supposedly allowing for an endless run designed to test the strength of your builds (or your luck at slot rolls xP) but the lack of monster variety - 50 Shades of an Egg-shaped... monster? - is a bit dull (and also weirdly limiting as to the number of bonuses you can collect) and thus not particularly interesting. All in all though, for the price vs fun factor this little unsuspecting gem is a real steal! It should definitely swallow a couple dozen of your hours trying out all kinds of combos - and cursing the devs in laughter as your high-damage dealing axe keep dealing 0 damage because RNG always makes it spawn before your shield items which trigger its damage multiplier! 😆 Gameplay: 10/10 Performance: 11/10 (could run on your toaster & smartwatch) Art: 8/10 (you have to like raw pixels & voxels) Story: WTF/10 Replay value: 9/10 (you'll unlock everything after a dozen hours, but wheel-spinning is a highly addictive brain hack which worldwide casinos are perfectly aware about - and the devs too!) Fun factor: 10/10 Price range: 10/10
100% in about 3 hours. Definitely faster than most. I played on fast mode. Very unique and satisfying game. Worth every penny.
W artstyle, very fun, bomb on top. Beaten in 3.2 hours.

Simple. Efficace. Une friandise...
Fun game between fighting and gambling, sweet beloved gambling
Fantastic game, but sad to see there's no more content once you finish it.
