Ah, so I'm 12 years old again playing simcopter on my pentium 95. Only had to wait 30 years!
I found this game by mistake and instantly fell in love with it. anyone who loves the old Maxis classic, "Simcopter" will love this. Its basically a mirror image of its gameplay but updated to bring it into the modern age. I have wished for a sequel for many years and now its here. I am excited to see where this project goes but for now you have like almost a dozen helicopters to upgrade to and all the missions from the classic as well as the career mode. I do hope it later has more maps and larger ones at that.
30 years ago my 7 year old mind was blown by Maxis's PC game "SimCopter", a game that is very special to me as it created my lifelong obsession with helicopters. It is a game I have revisted during the pandemic, I went as far as buying a used Windows XP laptop just so I could buy SimCopter on Amazon and play it again. The game somehow got me through a dark time in my life during the pandemic, and here I am currently getting my helicopter license. I cannot begin to express how thankful I am that a team of talented game developers made the sincere effort to pay homage to this old gem in such a beautitful, creative and fun way. This is the best $15 I have ever spent on a game, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here :) My only suggestion that would make this game even more perfect than it already is... Consider adding some goofy radio advertisements. It really adds to the bizaree lore of this simple yet choatic world of a Simulator Helicopter Pilot Hero :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this game! - Pilot Laird
This was an instant purchase as it looked like the frustratingly illusive modern SimCopter spiritual successor I've been looking for for 20 years. It already accomplishes that even in EA. I'm looking forward to additional content and can't wait to see how this develops. It's solid as is. A few issues here or there and it needs more varied content but understand that even in the current state of the game, it feels and plays just like SimCopter and does everything SimCopter did and more, even in terms of content it's not really lacking in comparison. Buy it. Tell your friends to buy it. Support good games and devs that make games people actually want to play!
Great throw back to SimCopter, cant wait to see where it goes!
Damn I'm Old... After 30 years of waiting for a new SimCopter game, SKYSAVIOR is a great successor. looking forward to more updates. Great game
Really neat and fun little helicopter game! SimCopter all over again.
🚁! I craved arcade-ish helicopter sim quite like SimCopter that runs on modern systems but honestly there was nothing like it - modern helicopter offerings are few and they mostly suck if you want to just fly around transport stuff without fiddling with overly realistic controls. Day after I made another research into this topic, SKYSAVIOR ended in my queue and hell yeah! The game needs more work, but foundations are solid. If devs keep hammering with passion, this can be the modern goto game for SimCopter fans. If you crave SimCopter, this is worth the little monies asked already. And yet it's very wonky, glitchy, incomplete... If you're not used to EA jank, add to wishlist and check back later. Either way, this deserves support and attention. There is a map editor and maps can be loaded from files so if Workshop was added and I could fly in other players' cities - that would be dream come true! I'm not a map making type but I enjoy creations of those who are. In theory, importer from OpenTTD / SimCity could be written to have near-infinite amount of surprisingly realistic maps 😈 User-made maps are a killer feature for real. Roadmap mentions adding many helicopters and some new missions. While more copters is always good, I'd prefer focus on mission diversity. I love this use of Godot engine, it's spot on, however on 1440p UI overlay is scaled in an ugly manner - text and UI elements are jagged. Same with loading screens. Low poly models are nice, but as there are lots of parallel lines on the roads and solar panels (oh god the solar panels), this creates brutal aliasing which a gen Z person called "glitching". Need anti-aliasing urgently, it hurts my eyes. I know it's true to the original, but please add it later on so my eyes don't bleed out due to pixel damage. Losing your entire pilot if running below $0 is absolutely savage and not advertised, didn't expect that. While I like the hardcore element, an equivalent of a save wipe might be excessive... still, impressive level of savagery. The damage model is nice, I enjoy pieces falling of and the copter exploding. I even flew into a chimney from the top and indeed the copter fell in bouncing off the chimney inside as it should - very nice. Finally, sounds need quite some polishing, for example rotor sound which is nearly always present seems to be a single sample in loop with little to no variation when flying at constant speed - this gets close to mental torture sometimes. All that said, I've got my nostalgic joy out of this and I have big hopes for the dev(s) to give us the SimCopter successor we deserve. We've waited for eons, so no rush. Just get it done well, please - thanks a lot! EDIT: When helicopter rotates left/right, there's no need for it to ROLL in that direction. In fact that doesn't make sense and it breaks my physics immersion. It rolls when moving left/right, that correct. Please make it rotate around rotor axis or around up axis without this non-sensical rolling pls, thx.
It's funny was scrolling on Facebook and thinking I wish there was a remake of Simcopter or at least something similar and as I'm scrolling I see this add of helicopter game, and I'm like ohh let's give it a try... Bro turns out this is basically Simcopter but improved and enhance on really beautiful tribute way. Please don't hesitate to buy the It's a gem. You will enjoy a lot, and if you find any bugs or glitches, the creators are willing to fix those almost immediately
The nostalgia in this one is -strong-. For anyone who loved the old SimCopter game circa 1996, this is like a well and truly overdue update, remaster, and newness all in one. Loving what I have played so far, and greatly looking forward to all that comes next!
