Reviews
Disclaimer: Just listing pro's and con's. Consider this as a Neutral review. Short description: Minecraft's Skyblock stretched into it's own game.
Neutral points.
Islands are prebuilt, but placed randomly around the spawnpoint;
Dropped items are completely physics based. Positives.
Mobs are implemented;
Working electric system;
Basic tutorial;
Interesting islands with random loot;
Airdrops;
Good optimisation;
Nice graphics;
Price. Negatives.
Options can't be changed from the main menu, you have to load a world to do so;
Unskippable intro;
Mobs have collision and can't be pushed;
Movement feels heavy, with inertia and weak jumping;
A wierd need for oxygen alongside hunger, in a place full of trees, animals and grass. It doesn't kill you, but makes you go even slower than you already are;
Mediocre English translation, but comprehensible;
Ledge hanging with Shift is replaced by a "Bridge assist" function, which works by placing blocks in the empty space in front of you, regardless of where you aim with the crosshairs;
Picking up items requires you to walk directly over them;
No liquids;
Grass doesn't seem to do anything, not even spread;
No tools whatsoever;
Crafting is extremely simple, no need to arrange the blocks in a 3x3 grid or anything like that, just click an item in the recipe list and have the resources necessary;
Furnaces and other such things work by Q throwing stuff into them, no dedicated interaction menus;
No block destruction state, i.e. the cracks what appear on the block then you mine it, instead replaced by a green bar with a timer;
Islands are generated after the loading screen, making it redundant. 别买 完全没有可玩性 就这B玩意卖11块 还不如去玩Minecraft
its Minecraft sky block on a budget, not much to it, got bored of it fairly fast
TL;DR - Skip down to "THE VERDICT" Anyone who has ever played or seen a video about Minecraft, can probably identify this as "Sky Block". I went into it mad that they are trying to cash in on, not only another Minecraft clone, but a paid version of a free minigame someone created withing Minecraft. While I am still upset at the idea, you have to remember that the only way to play Sky Block is to own a copy of Minecraft, or at least install and get into the map. SkyLife however is a variant of Sky Block that runs on its own, and with (somewhat) higher quality graphics. It's the Unity engine instead of Java, however the quality of the textures are really bad. Using an engine capable of textures greater than 16x16 should be using hi-res graphics and models. Just look at Eco and Creativerse as examples. The Crafting system is fairly confusing at first. Rather than unlock items as they are discovered, everything is visible from the start. Coupled with the aforementioned graphic quality, the crafting screen is a mess. As well, the Escape key, which usually exits menus, opens the Main Menu instead, so you either click the X close button, or press ESC twice. The Tutorial is the first map you play on, but it's possible to fall into the void and lose everything early on. While there is a respawn marker, because you lost your building supplies, the tutorial becomes impossible to advance past, for me, the first pit. You see, there is a toggle between building in front and below. The below does not have a box to show where the block is going, and you have to stand right near the edge, where you can fall off. And unlike in Minecraft, holding Walk does not prevent you from going over! There are some items that you create which make getting around very unique and fun, like making you jump higher and fall slower! I found they raise the excitement as you defy death while getting around. There is also a speaker to play your own music, but I have not figured out how to make it work. Unlike in Minecraft, there are no liquids to generate infinite Cobblestone, and are not needed to grow crops. However, trees grow within a couple of minutes so Wood will be your primary, and hunger is barely a thing. You also throw items at containers (like Minecraft Hoppers) rather than using an interface, which is is actually pretty fun. The items are physical, and can be stacked in little piles like building blocks. Because of this, the Furnace can auto-output into a box. THE VERDICT: Unique items make gameplay fun and interesting. While the graphic quality could be vastly improved, it feels good to be able to play this old gametype without having to sign in to, and keep updated, Minecraft. So, I will recommend this for under $3.00 Cdn ($2.29) as a fair attempt at bringing us back to when we first played Sky Block. The idea isn't original, but the mechanics can be quite interesting.

Better off playing minecraft but the developer did his best.
Amazing game and can not wait to see where it goes!
Sorry, just can't recommend this at the moment. The game is very simple, and that kinda leaves it with very little to do. There is no real goal besides surviving, which isn't a problem in its own right but the game feels like a chore because the movement is very sluggish and the mechanics are very clunky. Maybe the game will improve and become substantially better, but until then, watch this from afar.
Ok I played for 18min, but I have enjoyed the game this far, but before talking about what I think I should say, I don´t know how much money you have to pay for this game, in my country it is not worth to be honest, I feel like the game could be cheaper in early access. Now, I like the interface, it is not that good looking for sure, but is good enough for me to point it out (and I assure you I am very annoyed by these kind of things), it is simple but I like the font. Now that I said that, I also like the whole vibe the game has, like the colors it uses, being it on the text or the textures, it just looks good like a whole environment, and I feel like some music could help that chill atmosphere (and I just remembered that I liked the cutscene at the start a lot xd). At this point I feel like the game doesn´t give me enough reasons to search for materials, I enjoyed the fact that there´s cannonballs, and maybe there´s more to look at (Ill be playing the game again on these days, and I´ll update this review), but the inventory is just overwhelming, there should be a way to prioritize some items over others, and there´s the fact that everything has this similar color palette (which works well like I said before), but in this particular case it just feels way too messy. Also, from what I understand the whole game is kinda the same, but I feel it would be good to exploit the sense of discovery this world offers and reduce a bit your field of view and add some danger zones with idk, floating enemies like sky fishes or something like that, where the islands soil is darker and the sky too or... Yeah you get the idea. Although this is just a recommendation. It would be great if you configure gamepad input, right now I can walk with the L-joystick, and jump with Y, the game feels very fluid at least while jumping and walking.
