Almost Cut/Paste from Summer with You by same creator: Can't recommend it. Technically speaking: No you don't have to use Ren'py when creating a Visual Novel but if you don't you have to do something at least as good. Here you can't go back if you've clicked too quickly, can't change the speed of the text,etc... Graphically speaking: Pretty generic. If it had been released two years later I would have thought that it was AI graphics. On the plus side the faces are animated (not very well but still). The voices: well not everybody is made to dub an anime character. There's got to be emotion in there. The dialogs: The translation could be better. And those dialogs ugh. Here's the beginning of a dialog: "You can hit your sisters but you have to do it gently." Or the obsession with one of the girls' breasts. The story: Pretty short. It could have been interesting but it stopped before it did (and the ending was stupid). The price: Really not enough content/quality for that price. Oh and it was a kinetic novel. Choices you make don't matter at all.
The story here and characters' lines written so bad. It's literally can't be taken seriously. Nice visuals and good reviews made me buy it, but in the end, it's not worth to play to the end even for free.
Sky in Your Eyes, developed and published by Aleksey Izimov, stands out among smaller visual novels by grounding its story in a setting that feels both specific and believable. Rather than relying purely on abstract emotional drama, it places its narrative within a post-Soviet environment, where social expectations, personal duty, and moral ambiguity shape the protagonist’s journey. This sense of place gives the game a more tangible identity, allowing its conflicts to feel rooted in reality rather than existing in isolation. The story follows Slava, a young officer whose life is defined by structure, discipline, and a belief in the system he serves. That sense of certainty begins to unravel when he encounters Lena, a girl in a vulnerable situation whose presence disrupts the careful balance he has maintained. What starts as an act of empathy gradually evolves into a moral conflict that forces him to question not only his responsibilities but also his understanding of right and wrong. The narrative builds tension by placing Slava between opposing forces—his obligations, his relationships, and his growing sense that doing the “correct” thing may not align with what feels just. Unlike more linear entries in the genre, the game incorporates branching choices that allow players to influence how events unfold. These decisions shape Slava’s relationships and ultimately determine the direction of the story, leading to multiple endings. While the variations between routes are not drastically different, they do provide enough distinction to give a sense of agency and encourage revisiting key moments. The relatively short runtime works in the game’s favor, keeping the pacing tight and ensuring that the narrative remains focused, though it also limits how deeply certain threads can be explored. Character dynamics are central to the experience, with each major figure representing a different aspect of Slava’s internal struggle. His wife embodies stability and the life he is expected to maintain, serving as a reminder of the responsibilities he cannot easily abandon. Another connection from his past introduces elements of nostalgia and unresolved emotion, adding complexity to his decisions. Lena, meanwhile, becomes the catalyst for change, challenging his worldview and forcing him to confront uncomfortable truths. These relationships are not deeply intricate, but they are effective in creating emotional tension and driving the story forward. The presentation enhances the narrative with a polished, anime-inspired visual style. Character sprites are animated with subtle movements and expressions, making interactions feel more dynamic than static imagery alone would allow. Backgrounds are simple but appropriate, supporting the tone without distracting from the characters. The inclusion of voice acting adds an extra layer of immersion, helping to bring key moments to life, while the soundtrack reinforces the game’s reflective and occasionally somber atmosphere. Despite its strengths, the game does have noticeable limitations. The story introduces compelling themes—moral conflict, personal sacrifice, and the tension between duty and compassion—but doesn’t always explore them to their fullest potential. Some narrative developments feel compressed, and certain emotional beats resolve more quickly than they should. Additionally, while the branching paths add replay value, the differences between them are subtle enough that the experience may feel repetitive for players seeking more dramatic variation. In the end, Sky in Your Eyes is a focused and thoughtfully constructed visual novel that succeeds in creating a believable and emotionally engaging scenario within a modest scope. It doesn’t attempt to push the boundaries of the genre, but it offers a solid, character-driven experience supported by a strong sense of setting and a clear narrative direction. For players who appreciate stories built around moral dilemmas and personal reflection, it provides a worthwhile journey, even if it stops short of fully realizing its deeper ambitions. Rating: 7/10
