best game ever for VR, +rep
EDIT: The game is finally working fine - no more controller issues and when I exit the game, I'm no longer placed 2 meters below the floor in SteamVR Home! Performance is also improved - so I can finally recommed the game! My old review: BEWARE - this is alpha software or early access, it's by far not a game ready for full launch. Performance is significantly worse than the demo, probably due to the added AI players - maybe. I'm using an oc'ed RTX 3090, and this game is just as demanding as Reviving Lone Echo 2 with Ultra settings, lol - but unfortunately I'm not kidding. Worst, often I can't even start the game - that is, the game starts, but then my Index controllers are locked, can't select anything. Seems I have to be standing in a correct position when I start the game, or controllers will/may be locked. When the game is running, you cannot reset your position using SteamVR - the reset position becomes deactivated - might be the issue causing locked controllers. Also exiting the game using the SteamVR button, I get placed like 2 meters below the floor in SteamVR Home. Clearly devs did little or nothing to test this game before launch. Did get the game to work, and fun thing - after finishing a track there's a Continue button, but it does not work. There are very few buttons in the game - how can devs miss that the "Continue" button is not working?! Do not buy this beta/alpha software yet - there's a nice but small game hidden under the lack of polish, but it's not ready yet. I did enjoy the dynamic shadows and nice views, but not much is going on - the performance should be twice as good as it is now. There're also only 4 levels (4 x 2 for day & night), you do get very limited content. In short, do not buy this less than half-baked cake, but do get the free demo - the free demo is much better than the lackluster "full" version, even if the demo also may cause locked controllers and falling through the SteamVR floor.
Great game, had lots of fun! Graphics and music really nice. Felt like real slopes that I’m too broke to go :D
Simplistic learning curve but very enjoyable once you get the hang of it. Game offers 8 maps with both day & night options. Your arms will get a good workout from swinging the ski poles to gain speed as you tackle each map. You can swing you arms simultaneously or alternate your swing. There is a nice variety of environments and play options to choose from. The menu interface is very basic & not the best but it has no impact on game-play. I tried the demo & liked it very much so opted to buy the game shortly after. Game works fine with the HP Reverb G2 & WMR motion controllers. Controls are very responsive & the environments look great even though it leans more towards a cartoonish art style. By the way you can host your own private game. All you have to do is select the "Private" option before selecting the level you wish to launch. You can ski against AI bots if you want to race. Furthermore, all the levels are unlocked by default so you don't have to grind to try to unlock levels in order to find the ones you enjoy. This is not a game like SSX tricky but more like a scenic exercise experience.
