better than skate, needs mods n is good after, #420

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 167.57/day in the week to Jul 18 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

definitely a great skating game with new mechanics, hard to pickup even harder to lose it. love the real skating feel with muscle memory. could instantly do tricks i can do/almost do irl.
You have to mod it but then it's great.

The hardest sports game I've played so far, hands down. I've played Pipe, BMX Streets, Skate 3, Riders Republic, MX Bikes, and such, but I've never had so much trouble adapting to the gameplay - not necessarily in a bad way, though. From the start, I downloaded a ton of mods, thanks to modding guides from Miky on YouTube, and started playing with manual catch. And I cannot stress this enough: it is painful. It was like a real process of learning how to skate because I've never dealt with a system where your feet are the joysticks and not the triggers. It was very hard to adapt at first, to the point where I just abandoned the game for a couple of years. But recently, I decided to give it another try, and what do you know, I'm completely hooked. Despite the learning difficulties - having trouble pressing so many inputs at a time and constantly pressing R3 and L3 - it was very fun. (Later, I discovered an option called "Flick to Catch," which made the game even more enjoyable for me since I found pressing the sticks quite troublesome, but I always wanted to maintain that level of control over my flips.) You can get the tricks to look INSANELY good. I've played Session, and this comes down to personal preference, but the animations look SO MUCH BETTER in Skater XL. For me, the modded Skater XL look far surpasses everything Session has to offer. It adds that extra level of variation you can have with each and every trick; the way you control the spin of the board is far superior to anything I've seen. In terms of graphics, it looks insanely good, with some modded maps looking surreal. Of course, we’re talking about a fully modded game, and it is quite silly to compare a vanilla SXL or Session to a fully modded version of SXL with tons of stances, presets, and steezes installed. But this is the beauty of this game. It allows you to fully customize your experience, which, for me, is the main selling point. You want your style to look unique? Create your own stance! You want to change every single bit of your experience? The mod menus are there for you. You want to touch nothing and just enjoy the game? Download someone else's preset and call it a day! Multiplayer, beautiful maps, tons of creative ways to play, challenging but rewarding controls—everything is an appeal for me. I know that some people just want to play the game and not tinker with a million unintuitive mods, but if you will—this is the best experience you're going to get, in my opinion.
So ready for the OG Skate to come out!
I guess im too used to the Skate 3 control
