The 1987 DOS strategy game returns to the throne, illustrated and rebuilt for iPhone and iPad. You rule one of the six kingdoms: France, Brittany, Germany, Spain, Muscovy or Persia. Year after year you decide how your people live, how much tax they pay and whom your army marches against. A YEAR OF YOUR REIGN • Granaries: the weather decides the harvest; you decide how many bushels go to the army and how many to the people. At the market you buy and offer grain, and you can sell land. • Government: set the three taxes and invest the royal treasury in marketplaces, grain mills, foundries, shipyards and the palace, which brings nobles to court. Recruit soldiers and feed them well: a hungry army fights badly. • Borders: send your expeditions against the barbarians’ land and, from the third year, against the other kingdoms. • At the end of the year the report tells of harvests, battles, famines and plagues, yours and the rest of the world’s. YOUR RIVALS The other kingdoms live by your own rules: they sow, reap, pay their soldiers and buy grain when they run short. Each has a character, and you can see it: Merchant, Farmer, Warlord, Ambitious, Cautious, Opportunist or Miser. Choose the difficulty when the game begins: the higher it is, the more Warlords play to conquer. THE DANGERS OF THE COURT A conspiracy, a great hunt, a suspicious cook, a bread riot: rarely, but without warning, the court puts the ruler in danger. Every answer has its price and its risk. THE CROWN Every kingdom has its own titles: in France you rise from Baron to Emperor, in Muscovy from Boyar to Tsar. You win by taking the highest title, or when every land is yours. AND MORE • Alone against the computer, or several rulers on the same iPhone or iPad, passing it round. • A guide in chapters explains every rule in plain words. • The game saves itself and picks up where you left it. • No ads, no in-app purchases, no account. Plays offline too.
