¡¡CONTAINS SPOILERS!! from the 4.3 hours that i played the game (and finished the early access) it is a explosion of mechanics that you gotta learn, and i loved it, it took more than i expected to learn how to catch a fish because you gotta read the manual, understand it and practice it. in the visual side i loved the old game feel that it transmits, the npc´s looks cute and the scenery is perfect, im hoping to see the final result :3 and for the bugs and problems about the game first of all the dialogue i have talked to some npc´s and ive noticed a few spelling errors? or maybe a way to give the npc´s personality by making it make less sense, even if thats the case i feel there could be more work, the others are minor bugs; In one occasion i got a huge lag spike that made me lose a lot of progress with the huge catfish, and this other bug is a little annoying; i got a problem with sounds configuration, changing it feels weird, obtaining new objects become loud, the music gets low and overlaps with the ambience sounds, sometimes i cant hear sfx and i check the configuration in game and its 15% on everything even tho i havent touched that at all. overall! its a good game and i got feedback because i loved every second of the game; it would be awesome adding some emotion to the npc´s in dialogue to make it more expresive (adding visual efects, actions in the dialogue, more movement in the room appart from the fish in the water, etc) and i would suggest this game being a multiplayer game but that could also be a very long shot depending on the budget. I really loved the difficulty and how fun it is please continue developing it! very worth the price :3 10/10
Sinker Sound is FANTASTIC and more than worth the 8 bucks--I was gifted this by a friend and while I'm less than 2 hours into it, I will be 100%ing the ♥♥♥♥ out of this. Here are some thoughts in no particular order! - I've played a fair bit of Beatblock, another rhythm game other reviewers compare this too, and the comparisons are fair in a good way, mostly in a single mechanic. If you're looking for a beatblock clone this isn't it, but if you're into rhythm games this is definitely worth trying!! It's making me flex other rhythm gaming muscles. - Fishing, obvs, is the biggest part of the gameplay. It has a lot to focus on, but never feels overwhelming. - Personally, I don't like when a tutorial drones on, and this is succinct BUT lets you REPLAY parts of the tutorial section-by-section--you'd be surprised how many games make you replay the whole thing or don't let you replay at all and throw you into the game. The initial tutorial gives you the basics to get you catching fish, and as you move into subsequent sections you learn further skills to get you S ranking your catches. I think it says a lot that I'm saying this less than 2 hours into the game and I'm looking forward to how this changes as I delve deeper into it! - Fish designs are creative and silly and cute! Catching some of these fish (crystal fish especially) is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and evil. Dev, please change nothing, I love this lol - Some other reviewers mentioned the text/dialog being a little off/grating but at least in english, I think the dialog is charming - I would say my rhythm game enthusiasm is S+ tier, but my skill is like C+ tier, and despite this, the game is still very rewarding and fun. - I'm only a couple hours in, but the level of polish does NOT feel like this is early access at all--I want to get further in before I say definitively but at least visually and with the core gameplay, this could be released as-is and have more dollar-to-fun value than a lot of games on Steam at a similar price point. Besides, 8 dollars is basically 5 dollars anyway. - the MUSIC. Each fish has its own track!!!! And it doesn't feel same-y the way some tracks in rhythm games can--Chavafei describes themself as a 'delusional solo dev' but they really are skilled in a lot of areas and I'm super impressed. Overall this is a fantastic experience! I peeked at the dev's socials and saw they used to stream the development of this and upload videos from time to time. I hope they continue to do so to spread the word about this game, it's very fun and I am looking forward to playing more of Sinker Sound!
This is litteraly all I could ever hope for. My heart is healed I am NOT overreacting
It's surprising how much depth there is to the fishing aspect of the game. Managing all the different systems to get the highest quality fish is challenging but rewarding. The music/sound design work so well with the fishing aspects and retro aesthetic. I could also see this game having an active modding community with new charts and fish types which is exciting for longevity. You also get a couple reel attachments at the start which make catching easier so it's very accessible. This is definitely a gem you should pick up if you're at all interested.
Wow this was the most surprising purchase from the Summer Sale. The game does an amazing and creative job of combining rhythm and music with fishing. The fish designs and the music in the game thematically work well together and are satisfying to see and hear, and I love the subtle detail of the fish swimming to the beat. The cutscene/cinematic view when I start to fight a boss fish is also a fun addition. Although the graphics aren't as modern as recent games, they are charming and fits the gameplay. On top of that, there is Steam Workshop support that lets you design your own fish + rhythm minigame! I look forward to more content, both custom and story.
fishing but with aura
this game has genuinely so much potential, i couldnt stop playing it until i got to the end of early access!! the way new mechanics are introduced are so SO innovative and this is such a perfect way to use mouse controls for a rhythm game, and the themeing and everything is just so on-point! the game has surprising similarities to beatblock but like, surpasses it in every way imo; really excited to see what this is when it's fully out!!
Sinker sound is an inventive indie rhythm adventure that reimagines the relaxing concept of fishing by transforming every catch into a musical performance. Developed and published by Chavafei, the game replaces conventional fishing mechanics with rhythm-based interactions where players reel in their catches by following the tempo of unique songs. Rather than focusing on patience alone, success depends on timing, precision, and the ability to adapt to different musical patterns. This refreshing combination gives the game a distinctive identity that immediately sets it apart from both traditional fishing simulators and rhythm-focused titles. The gameplay revolves around exploring a mysterious lake whose fish each possess their own melodies. Every species presents a fresh rhythmic challenge, encouraging players to carefully listen, memorize patterns, and react with accurate inputs instead of relying on quick reflexes alone. Because every encounter introduces original music, the experience remains engaging throughout progression. As players improve their rhythm skills, they gradually unlock more demanding catches that require greater concentration, creating a satisfying sense of mastery without abandoning the relaxing atmosphere associated with fishing. A subtle yet intriguing story adds purpose to the adventure. Players take on the role of a curious fisher drawn toward an enigmatic lake connected to the legend of a mermaid. As exploration continues, new areas reveal increasingly unusual aquatic creatures and hidden mysteries beneath the surface. Rather than delivering its narrative through lengthy dialogue, the game encourages curiosity by allowing players to uncover secrets naturally while expanding their collection of musical fish. This approach creates an appealing balance between exploration, discovery, and gameplay progression. The visual presentation embraces a charming retro-inspired low-poly aesthetic reminiscent of classic 3D console games. Instead of striving for realism, the environments use stylized colors and simple geometry to establish a memorable atmosphere that complements the game's mysterious tone. The artistic direction gives every location its own personality while allowing the soundtrack and rhythm mechanics to remain the primary focus. The nostalgic appearance also reinforces the game's indie charm, making the world feel both inviting and distinctive. Audio is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the entire experience. Every fish introduces its own original composition, ensuring that music is directly tied to gameplay rather than serving as background ambience. Players interact with each soundtrack through rhythmic inputs, making every successful catch feel like completing a miniature musical performance. This close relationship between sound and mechanics keeps the gameplay consistently fresh while rewarding players who pay close attention to tempo and rhythm. It is a creative design choice that strengthens both immersion and replayability. Exploration extends beyond simply catching fish. The lake gradually opens into stranger environments filled with new creatures and increasingly demanding rhythm encounters. Each new region expands the game's world while maintaining a sense of mystery about the origin of the lake's magical inhabitants. This steady introduction of fresh locations and mechanics prevents repetition and gives players meaningful reasons to continue progressing beyond simply completing a collection. Although still in Early Access, Sinker sound already outlines an ambitious future. Planned updates include additional regions to explore, new fish with original musical challenges, collectible cosmetics earned through gameplay, and perhaps most notably, a custom fish creation system. This feature is intended to let players design their own fish and songs before sharing them with the community, potentially creating an endless supply of user-generated rhythm challenges. If fully realized, these additions could significantly expand both the game's longevity and creative potential. As with many Early Access projects, there are areas that continue to evolve. New players unfamiliar with rhythm games may find the timing requirements challenging during the opening hours, and the overall amount of content is still growing as development progresses. However, the existing gameplay demonstrates a solid foundation supported by a creative concept that feels genuinely original. Continued updates and community feedback should further refine the experience while expanding its content over time. Overall, Sinker sound delivers an imaginative fusion of rhythm gameplay, fishing, exploration, and mystery that feels unlike anything else currently available on Steam. Its inventive mechanics, memorable soundtrack, nostalgic visual style, and intriguing world create an experience that rewards both musical skill and curiosity. While the game still has room to grow during Early Access, its unique premise and strong execution already make it a compelling choice for players looking for something different from conventional rhythm or fishing games. With continued development, it has the potential to become one of the more memorable indie releases in its genre. Rating: 9/10
A fun and unique rhythm game! I'm looking forward to playing more as the game continues development.
