A warning to anyone playing this game. A sudden power outage will corrupt your save file and that corrupted save file will get uploaded to the Steam Cloud, leaving you with no backups. So it's smart to do periodical manual backups of the file where the game is installed at Gemdiggers\Saves\Profile01\profile.dat. The developer claims he fixed it, but it's still an issue.
This is the skeleton of an idle game. There's no input outside of upgrading your meager selection of upgrades, and once you have them all (only 20-30 hours in), that's it. There's nothing else. Sell the gems, watch your money increase with nothing to spend it on, repeat until you hit the 60 hour mark and get all the achievements. It's not even much of an idle game because the bag space you start with is pitiful, requiring you to sell every 5 minutes, or make no progress, and by the time you cap it out (115 slots), it doesn't matter anymore anyway because the only achievements you have left are playtime. When an idle game is this bare, having your only real interaction with the game boiling down to "press button to be allowed to progress" causes it to fail entirely as an idle game. I should be given an incentive to interact with the game, such as speeding up progress, not having it halted ENTIRELY from my inaction in a got damn IDLE game. As much as I loathe Idle Slayer, its a really great example of this concept put into practice. On the inverse of that, there's How To Train Your C*ck. There's no real interaction with that game, but your upgrades have no limits and you're not punished outright for letting the idle game go on its own for hours. Your only punishment is less overall points because your stats are lower during those hours than they would be if you were actively monitoring the game. Instead Sin Slayers: Meat & Greed cannot decide if it wants you to engage with it or not. You have to engage in that minor way in order to progress at all, while paradoxically, there's literally nothing to actually do. Buy all the gear (content) in about a days time, then wait for 2. Congrats, you just 100% the game. This is the kind of practice game you would make when learning how to develop mechanics for an Idle game, not something you actually publish to a storefront. If you want a cheap, easy, and fast (for an "idle" game) achievement completion, here you go. There's a singular positive for you. Beyond that? Don't bother.
This game markets itself as a cozy desktop miner but the reality is just a massive waste of electricity. The actual game, the part where you are upgrading, unlocking things and seeing any actual progression basically ends at the 30 hour mark. But does the game let you finish? No. It fully expects you to leave it running for another 30 hours to hit the 60 hour mark, just mindlessly grinding with absolutely no new additions to the game. No new zones, no new mechanics, just watching a tiny dwarf hit the same rocks for an eternity to pad out the playtime. It’s not "idle progress", it’s a hostage situation for your CPU. The worst idle game ever. Do yourself a favor and just look at a picture of a rock instead, it will take less of your time and be just as rewarding.
Sin Slayers: Meat & Greed is an idle game where you mine for gems and upgrade your perks slowly. There really isn't much about it but I had fun with it doing work while 'gaming'. It was more of a studying companion than a game to me.
This game is definitely an idle game... you can't fault it for that... The problem is, it's too idle. For the first 18 minutes, I haven't had to do anything. In fact, more than that, beyond selling the occasional shiny rock, I haven't been able to do anything. I haven't been able to make number go up, I haven't been able to interact with the game. I can't make the gnome dig a certain direction. (I suspect he's meant to be a dwarf, but the model looks more gnome like) I have been unable to do anything... Just sell shiny rocks. I got level 2... nothing happened. I can only recommend against this, because yeah, sure... it's an idle game.... but it's too idle. There's nothing to do, at least not for a while. I imagine the game opens up eventually.... but it's good for incremental games to give you something to do at least at the start... At least let me make number go up.... Seeing -1. -1, -1, -1, -1, -1... Over and over.... Absolutely dire. Edit: I got the upgrade, yay, and the game was just amazing after I got it up, it was -2 -2 -2 -2... for just,,, 20 minutes..... Yeah, no, I'm lying, the game is still no fun. Sorry dev, but I really don't like your game. It doesn't start off interesting.... it doesn't pull me in and convince me that it's worth not refunding.
Sin Slayers: Meat and Greed. No meat to the game, all greed.
Terrible idle game not worth your time or money other then for achivements! Almost 30 hours in and have all the upgrades and its expecting me to play for 60 hours
misleading title, PID says Gem Diggers, I like that better. otherwise, perfect!
