Simple and relaxing game, lovely soundtrack, for the price I'd say worth it :)
Signals started in an interesting fashion; dig materials to rebuild the device and move to the next sector; then the second and third levels bring on a time limit, and no further game mechanics are added. This leaves the game feeling shallow and empty, nothing to change stakes; in fact the stakes even lower once the second half of the game has no time limit. While this makes the game relaxing, it also leaves there not a lot there. There is a daily level you can play, but personally it takes too long for the enjoyment factor, as it encourages you to visit every single planet to try and gain the high score; which could take hours to do optimally. I have to not recommend from the lack of depth.
A pleasing aesthetic with chill tunes, but felt pretty lacking in gameplay and variety. It got pretty stale after about an hour, having completed four of the six "campaign" missions, and I just wasn't compelled enough to see the last couple of missions through. What it does, it does well, but there's just not enough meat on the bone.
Cute game but not nearly enough here to justify a £7 price, I'd maybe recommend at £1. I finished it in 20 minutes and did not feel like there was more to do.
I don't really know how to feel about this game. It was engaging enough to keep me until the campaign was over, the isometric look is simple yet conveying and the soundtrack was limited but not annoying. My problem comes with how I beat it since I'm really sure how it worked. By winging resource harvesting mostly it seemed to do what I was supposed to do yet there wasn't any kind of guide or tips regarding that aspect. As a result, by the end I didn't feel that much of an accomplishment. Otherwise, if you like resource gathering games this may be up your alley. Just don't expect some of the achievement to work since the weekly challenges haven't been updated for a while.
Game is fun. Very short, campaign is a couple of hours and pretty easy to figure out optimal strategy. Market feature is engaging though. Not a bad buy on sale. For achievement hunters, note that two of the cheevos appear to be busted now; can't complete the weekly change or improve score on same seed. If that were fixed would give wholehearted thumbs up here.
I wanted to like it, and it has some fun ideas. But the whole user experience feels very indistinct and vague. Half of the resources look the same on the map or with slight recolours, and feel like random mcguffins required for the plot rather than purposeful and different; the need to the put the trade post first isn't intuitive (maybe the first planet should start with one?) and the sense of base building or progression from extraction to research isn't there; and research buildings don't indicate the need for adjacency or build limits. There are just things and mechanics that exist in the game without being explained, and it doesn't make a lot of sense nor make for gameplay I found enjoyable. It all made for a rather confusing experience, and even after watching the campaign playthrough I didn't find it as fun as I expected from the description.
One of those games where there is little to grab you. It's a short time-waster and not a bad concept I suppose, but there's really not much to it. There's also a marked lack of assistance or in-game tutorial, which would be helpful. I finished the first chapter easy enough and immediately into the 2nd chapter, I'm unable to place anything anywhere. No amount of messing with different things allowed me to do anything at all. Not sure if it's a bug (there are a few) or not, but that was all it took to move on.
Gathering resources, making money, expanding, researching - that's my kind of game and Signals appeared to promise much. I am usually easy to please, but this game was very simplistic, underwhelming and ultimately boring. I understand that this is a "chill" game allowing you margins of error and avoiding stress like combat and other complexities, but I finished the campaign gameplay in 2.5 hours and then there is just sandbox mode left. If this was early access with plans to develop other features, I would recommend the game, but it appears this is the finished product. The game is not worth the A$14.50 that I paid for.
