About
Welcome to Shovelware, an engaging classical Arcade game where you have to reach the bottom of the level. Dig stable tunnels, avoid falling blocks, explosives and many other traps and contraptions. One hundred levels in a multitude of leagues, many trophies and countless cosmetics await you.
Beware of falling blocks...
In Shovelwares classic style gameplay, Blocks will fall when a space has been opened up underneath them. But they also cling to other blocks of the same colour so plan your route and build stable mineshafts through the level.
Other obstacles exist to avoid...
Spikes, TNT, Explosive blocks, Metal Blocks and many other things exist for you to avoid in the many levels of Shovelware.
Cosmetics...
There are many cosmetics for you to purchase with the Gems you find scattered around the level, Other cosmetics can be unlocked by completing tasks in certain levels.
Cosmetics come as Body, Eyes, Head gear and Shovels. They do not affect the gameplay in any way but let you add your own flair to the in game character.
Over 100 Cosmetics exist, can you find and unlock them all?

Reviews
NOTICE: I've gone ahead and removed my original review for the game. It was rather degrading... Anyway, what is "Shovelware"? Normally, it's a blanket term used to refer to games with no value, only serving as the "s*** to shovel", hence the name SHOVEL-ware. However, this game stands out, and for good reason. In this Mr. Driller-like game, your goal is to dig to the bottom of one hundred levels. Each one has some kind of twist, as well as unique secondary objectives, like finding a number of items, not taking damage, or digging enough of some kind of block. At the end of each set of ten levels is a boss fight that really, REALLY puts your skills as a player to the test. And the final boss? Well, I won't spoil it... but you'll want to master this game. Which is where my largest problem with this game comes in: the exclusive use of Kevin MacLeod music. Your mileage absolutely WILL vary, but as someone who watched their fair share of blooper videos, I can safely say that I'm tired of hearing a good number of tunes. There are also some glitches where an input will be "held onto", and then executed at the first possible moment after switching menus. But I've contacted the developer; these will be fixed in the next update. Add in a bunch of unlockables to customise your player, and you've got yourself a pretty solid game for $4.99 USD. It's a bit light on extra content, but trust me - you'll get your money's worth out of the main campaign. Just try not to rage too much like I did...

Great game to just relax and let the autism kick in. Enjoyable levels and bosses with plenty of customizability.
Just charged through cardboard and wood leagues (the first 20 levels) and got all the easy trophies from them (except 2 :( ), and this is pretty fun! It needs just the right amount of concentration to be slightly addicting and just beyond a zone-out game. Lots of levels, with several different gimmicks so far, and a variety of secondary goals. I'm impressed how many levels there appear to be! For a simple game like this, literally called "Shovelware", I would have expected it to also be real short. There are even a bunch of unlockable cosmetics to customize your little hero, which are a fun touch. Cutscenes are short and lightly humorous, and I realized eventually that you can skip them with Escape. (Useful when retrying a boss level to get the optional goals!) A couple of the mechanics are hard to figure out, such as when blocks fall slowly or quickly or how contiguous blocks of gems only count as 1 gem, and there is no explanation of the controls. Fortunately, the controls are pretty intuitive, and you don't _have_ to understand the block mechanics at first to get through things (at least on easy). It can be fun to try and figure out how things work. The game overall feels a little clunky, and the digging sound effect is not the greatest, imo. There's also currently an annoying bug where losing or quitting starts processing input on the level menu before you can see it -- I think a fix is on the way for that already. But it's the right blend of quick and challenging for me, and I had a very entertaining time trying it out today. While I got it as a gift, I think it would be worth the $5.
Game has simple rules but challenging to finish. Having three different goals helps a lot. Good and proper time waster. Note, on steamdeck I had to choose proton 7.6 (default doesn't render text)
my dad got me this game and i like t
Charming game that is easy to learn and hard to put down.
