Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet

Kinda boring

I know this game is old, but I still can’t find any justification for its poor design. The riddles feel like they exist only for the sake of having riddles. The difficulty level is wildly inconsistent, and some solutions are based purely on luck rather than logic. I think the developers were aware of this, because they added the option to simply skip puzzles — no hints, no explanations, just skip. That alone says a lot about how broken some of these mechanics are. I bought this game in a bundle for a very low price, but honestly, it wasn’t worth it. I managed to finish it only by having multiple walkthroughs open at the same time. And by the way, there aren’t many of them online, probably because very few people have the patience needed to solve these frustrating puzzles. Don’t be fooled by my playtime either, I didn’t enjoy it. I got fed up during one of the deductions, went for a walk, and forgot to turn off the damn game.

Yeah I played this game because I was determined to play every Sherlock Holmes game by Frogwares, but this is a gameplay I was not expecting. Anyway finished it pretty quickly and would not recommend

Point & click with some puzzles. The game is a bit outdated. No major bugs while playing. Some clues are too hard to see, but there is an in-game hint system even in the hardest difficulty that can help in these cases. It took me 3h. I don't recommend purchasing it at full price. Buy it with a good discount if you like old point & click games and the Sherlock Holmes cases

Es la primera vez que pruebo un juego de este estilo. Compré el pack de oferta de varios juegos de la saga y he empezado con este, siendo uno de los peor valorados por lo que he visto. No está mal para pasar el rato y entretenerte con algunos de los rompecabezas. Hay alguno al que hay que darle muchas vueltas y dedicarle cierto tiempo, en ese aspecto bien (si es que no acabas frustrándote por no solucionarlo). No me ha acabado de gustar el tema del cuadro de deducción y las pistas, siento que el jugador poco puede hacer. El final también considero que es muy mejorable. Estaba seguro de la identidad del asesino/a desde el primer momento. Pero vaya, tampoco pediré demasiado a un juego del 2008 y de tan poco presupuesto, por lo que he leído los otros son mejores. Recomendado siempre y cuando lo compres en pack o de oferta del +80%.

Just get a different game. This is only kinda worth it on sale or as part of a bundle

I don't really understand why this is a hidden object game, but as a hidden object game it's perfectly fine, though doesn't feel very 'Sherlock Holmes' at all

The game itself was pretty fun. I liked the puzzles but finding some of the objects was straight torture, not gonna lie. Decent start to an awesome game franchise.

[h1] Not the best example of a Sherlock Holmes game [/h1] Sherlock and his buddy Watson have a ton of games available, the great majority of them are very nice, but this one kind of sucks a bit. This is a very simple puzzle/investigation game where you basically go through levels and on each level investigate one or more places in order to find hidden items. In those places you'll also have to solve puzzles to obtain some of the items. One of the problems is that some items are really difficult to spot, remember, it's 2008 and the image quality is not top tier yet, but golly, it's not a very pleasant gameplay. The puzzles are ok, I'm a brainlet and could solve more than a half of them without skipping, just give it a little time and that's it. And finally, the deduction process, some stuff are pretty obvious and some are just a pain to find, trial and error is almost a must. TLDR: there are better Sherlock games, this one I don't think is a good one to spend your hard earned money on, 4/10.
