An interesting blast from the past. My first Mech game was MechWarrior 2 which allowed me to enjoy the futuristic tank combat of the BattleTech universe. The only other Mech games I'd ever played since were Heavy Gear and GunGriffon Blaze. So coming back to this game is a refreshing throw back to the MechWarrior style tank mechanics with more responsive throttle/turning controls. The game does have that 90's style menu system where you're shown an image of a location in the game's world that you navigate with your mouse like a point-and-click adventure, so there's no straight forward menu like there is now a days, but once you figure out where the options menu is, it's easy to customize your controls to how you want them. For me, I use KB+M, so If you're like me and the up, down, left, and right arrows aren't your thing for movement, you can easily go into the controls and bind them for WSAD style controls. I also disable inverted turret pitch controls because "up is up and down is down, not the other way around!" (unless you're in a flight sim) All in all, the game is emulated pretty well with DOS Box. I was able to get a smooth 60-120 frames for this older game. There is a slight issue in the menus where left clicking seems to register double or "rapid input" which can lead to some miss-clicks or unintended multi-clicks when navigating the menu system. And while the polygonal graphics make it look dated, they still hold up fairly well and are rendered quite clearly. I was able to snag this game %30 off for $6.99 USD and I'm glad I did. Recommended to anyone interested playing/collecting older 90's mech games.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this one. I love BioWare so I wanted to play all of their games. This ended up giving me a headache from the movement and the overall menu of the game is a bit lacking. It is 30 years old so a lot of that can be expected. It just wasn't my thing in the end.
