It's a nice game and the music is perfect, but there's only one thing I don't like. You guys really hate us 60% keyboard players don't you? The only way I can play this game is by pressing fn on my keyboard every single time which is kinda possible. Make it so we can change keybinds..

Awesome concept, I wish I could work with my past selves and figure out why I fumble EVERY woman I talk to.
"Shatterbound" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer uses the quirky and seldom used mechanic of having your "box" from previous level attempts appear in a way you can interact with it on consecutive attempts, and this "die and retry" mechanic is essential to solving many of the puzzles in each level. The game gets monotonous almost from the offset and the eyedamagingly lazy graphics don't help make up for that. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's just minimalist 2.5D graphics, which makes you wonder why someone would go all the way to present the game in 3D (a must in the 3D era of gaming) and then give up with any actual graphics beyond that. It might as well have been 2D, regardless, the visuals here are a hard fail. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

Fun game! I would recommend adding a way to change key-binds and also removing the clone and leaving just the platform when making a new platform loop so that max jump height platform creation doesn't block you when you want to jump to that platform. Good work!
Game is so fun and relaxing. The music is beautiful and the art is well thought out and perfect
