Shards is a new breed of digital card game where you build your deck to defeat an array of deadly foes, or join forces in raids to take down powerful monsters. No packs or boosters to chase. Each expansion is a complete experience.

Deck building games are usually fine. Not great, not bad, just fine. I'm afraid this one is going to have the same ending as Hex: Shards of Fate...
A trashy, weak fake F2P game. You cannot play against human opponents unless you pay money and hte servers are dead. There are many bugs and the game lacks many features (like seeing boss attacks and an efficient turn by turn log). The developers have already made a RWBY reskin and have abandoned this game. The last Twitter post on this game was back in May 2018 and it is too fast to stream or too slow at "custom" turn timers of at least 30 minutes. Avoid like the plague!

TL;DR Great deckbuilding game with some minor flaws and not a true FTP. For those expecting a TCG/CCG. This isn't it. This is a deck building game where you start with a VERY small deck and buy better cards to make your deck better. I for one am glad to finally see a DB game come to the PC. Now for my review of the game. I am basing this review off from the "Free to play" marketing of the game, I have not unlocked the online features yet but will start with saying that I very much dislike companies tagging a game as FTP but then locking 90% of the game behind a transaction. To me that is like McDonalds saying "Free Food" but only giving you a cold french fry. For this I removed 1 star on my rating (I know steam doesn't have stars.) As for the game itself. The FTP mode of the game is still a lot of fun. You play against 2 AI, and the games appear to use all the cards available in the paid pack. As mentioned in a previous review, the system is a tried and true system, so balance isn't a major issue (Although there are a few OP cards that need tweaking). There are a few bugs that I have noticed: 1.Having to drag cards multiple times before the game registers that you are trying to play it. 2. Card text saying "Gain a Valour to your hand" but it goes to your deck instead. 3. Swiping through your graveyard to pull a card out can sometimes result in you pulling a card you didn't want. Don't let the simplicity of the game fool you, there are complex strategies and mechanics to take advantage of that require planning and skill. Overall I gave this game 3 stars as of right now. If they fix the bugs and republicize it as a trial version, I would give it a solid 4.5 (I don't give out 5 stars, because there is always room to improve.)
The performance is really bad for this, even turning off animation and visual effects, there's still a multiple second delay when executing an action. Just get Slay the Spire instead.
Nice game that is essentially Ascension with a twist. Some lousy SFXs, but great gameplay concept. The main issue obviously is that there are no players, yet you can play this vs AI/bots.
Been playing this since early alpha. It is based upon the Cerberus game engine. It is the same engine as the DC Deckbuilding game. This early access is actually pretty complete. It has everything included that the game has to offer based upon the first set of cards. It has multiple game options including PvE, PvP and a Co-op raid element. The DC Deckbuilding game is one of my most favorite table top games and so I am thoroughly enjoying the hours upon hours that I have played this in early alpha and on iOS for the past few months. So glad to see this on the PC finally! It is a free to play game and is completely playable without having to purchase anything. However, you will probably want to buy the first set in order to unlock all the Champions. It's totally worth the small investment to unlock all the champions. There are more formats and other game play elements that they have planned to expand the options even more. You will not regret downloading this one and giving it a shot.
I wish I could give 'meh' as a review score. Game is good; it has good mechanics, good art work, good enough ui. I just wish it has straight forward monetization. Just sell expansions and raids on Steam instead of mobile-game-looking in-game shop. there are only three things that are gameplay related locked behind paywall. What is wrong with selling them on store page? it would be less convoluted and transparent.
