About
shapez is a low-stakes factory building game all about the automation of shapes production. Extract basic shapes with miners, cut them into segments and combine them into brand-new, unique shapes. Stack multiple layers of different shapes on top of each other & deliver them to the HUB to advance!
As you progress, new buildings are unlocked and the required shapes become more complex. Extract paint and use them to color your shapes. Spread out across the infinite sandbox to acquire different shapes and increase your production.
Leverage copy-paste tools to massively expand your factory as demand increases and shapes get more complex. Mix paint to create new colors, stack many layers of shapes and increase throughput as necessary. After all, it’s not an idle game!
Get creative with optional wiring & logic to optimize your factory to your liking and maybe even make a powerful machine that can make every shape possible.
With no enemies, timers or resource limits to worry about, shapez is a game that allows you to take on factory building at your own pace while progressively tackling more complex levels, if you’re looking for a challenge.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game failed to capture my attention. I was hoping that the management focused game loop would scratch some sort of itch in my brain, but that never happened. After a while the game gave me a shape to make and I went, “yeah no I’m good” and shelved it. This game definitely has an audience that will love it, and I thought I would be a part of it, but I’m not. While I liked managing the conveyor belts and shapes etc., I got really annoyed with having to search the map for 1 out of 4 needed pinwheel pieces and having to use that 1 shape, extract it 4 times, and turn it into a pinwheel all the time. I didn’t mind splicing up the other shapes or even making the circles where opposing pieces were dyed the same, but those pinwheels were the part that made the game unfun for me.
Game is tedious because developers couldn’t come up with proper progression. First 5 level made me close to quitting but I pushed thru. I shouldn't have. Game requires you to beat Level 25 to unlock all features, I don’t have emotional strength to beat lvl 13. The need to constantly go across the whole base to copy and then past the thing I already designed just kills me. Copy-paste feature also requires currency to be farmed like why??? Game becomes more tedious with each next level. You just have to do the thing you already done but more + another thing.
It’s like abstract Factorio. Despite being the game’s whole “thing” I think this game would be much more engaging with different theming. The core mechanics are all great but it just loses a little salt when all of the products are shapes that may as well have been randomly generated.
At first glance, the game is built around a very simple idea: you cut shapes, stack them into new shapes, and paint them in the required colors. That’s it — the core mechanic is incredibly straightforward. Shapes can have multiple layers, and the rules are easy to understand almost immediately. But what makes the game so good is how much depth it creates from that simple foundation. The mechanics are introduced in such a satisfying way that you naturally want to keep playing, keep improving your factory, and keep optimizing every part of your production line. The game becomes especially brilliant once you unlock the wires layer. From that point on, it is no longer just about making shapes manually. You can build logic systems, decoders, and even fully automatic factories that generate shapes for you. There is even an achievement for doing this, and the challenge of building a system that can automatically produce the required shapes using logic gates is absolutely fantastic. For me, that is where the game truly shines. It combines puzzle-solving, automation, programming logic, and factory design in a way that feels incredibly rewarding. My only real criticism applies mostly to the early part of the game. Some of the level requirements based on the total number of items delivered to the hub feel too high. Once you have solved the puzzle and built a working production line, the interesting part is basically done, so waiting until thousands of items are delivered can feel a bit unnecessary. The game later improves this a lot by switching to throughput-based goals, where you need to deliver a certain amount per second. That is a much better solution, because it rewards optimization instead of just waiting. Because of that, I think the early quantity-based requirements could simply have been lower. Requiring fewer delivered items would still prove that the setup works, while keeping the pace of progression smoother. Still, this is a fantastic game overall. I can recommend it 100% to anyone who enjoys logic games, programming-style challenges, automation, or factory-building games.
“I installed shapez for ‘a quick look.’ That was 314.6 hours ago.” At first, you’re like: “Cute little shapes. Relaxing. Minimalist. I’m in control.” Then suddenly it’s 3AM and you’re whispering: “Why is this belt backed up… WHO DID THIS… oh… it was me.” No enemies. No story. No graphics flex. Just you… your brain… and a conveyor belt silently judging your life choices. You start optimizing things that don’t matter. Then optimizing the optimizations. Then optimizing your personality. At some point you realize: You’re not playing the game anymore. The game is playing you. 10/10 Would sacrifice sleep, sanity, and basic human needs again.
The controls are frustrating and unintuitive. I've played countless games in which you hold right-click and drag to traverse the map. In this game it's left-click and drag; right-click is delete. Prepare yourself for accidentally deleting all the tiles you placed 10 minutes ago and then struggling to remember their exact layout, because there's no undo button. You can't rebind those actions of the primary mouse buttons either and trying to bind other actions to mouse buttons 4 and 5 (like selecting an area) doesn't work.
A relaxing automation game with no enemies or combat. Mine shapes, cut, rotate and color them to build complex production lines. Easy to learn at first, yet quite deep with logic circuits later. Blueprints and sandbox mode greatly extend playtime. The downside is relatively repetitive gameplay and lack of story. Highly recommended if you enjoy designing smooth factory layouts.
