Shan Hai Express Positives: + The mix of cartoony nature outside and a "real" train is cool + Its over in a few minutes + Its free Negatives: - An endless train with nothing to see or explore - Only 3 figures to "interact" with - Hard to hear narrative and no subtitles - No options menu - Overly bloomed (way too white) - Very uninteresting and unfun This idea should have been leaved at the table. Total Score: 1.5/10
Walking sim in which you explore train infested with ghost spirits. Some dialog is playing in the background and while there's not much going on, you start to think about other games in your library... Scenery is ok with some cartoony art direction. For some reason game is super bright with no way to change that (bug?). Music is generally a short rhythm that plays like a jingle from time to time. Basically an endless walking sim.
Shan Hai Ekspresine adım atın ve antik Çin mitolojisi Shan Hai Jing'in (山海经) dünyasında fantastik bir yolculuğu deneyimleyin. Bu, "Shan Hai Jing" metninin doğrusal olmayan yapısından ilham alan etkileşimli bir anlatım oyunudur.
Over the fact that the game is Student Project and It's free I must say that It could be better. There is no options menu which would be helpful since graphics although how beautiful They are will make your PC burn. The game brings nothing in gameplay than moving and looking around and once you hear 3 dialogues from 3 figures which look nice but are hard to understand It's practically over and there is nothing except from exploring the endless train. I hope this isn't the end and It will be more expanded on.
"Shan Hai Express" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students this year made a simple Chinese mythology themed walking simulator, barely a game, where you walk through a moving train and occasionally meet a mythological being which tells you some stuff you don't care about. I always make a point of not talking to anyone on trains, I think that's good life advice which the developers ignore here. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
a small game that has good potential and could be a game where you go through a endless train and meet folk and other things. other than that i don't know why it is so bright compared to the trailer and needs options for audio and subtitles. for a first game its good. i would try to expand on it you might be on to something.
por algún motivo todo se ve super iluminado, casi parece que todo lo que no ves de cerca es blanco, probablemente sea un bug de iluminacion, esta curioso el juego probablemente seria mas interesante si supiera bien ingles y no me cegara la luz
