Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.43/day in the week to Jul 23 → 5.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

be me: murder gets called in, go to the scene of the crime late because i got drunk, theres a woman dead in the corner, no evidence other then a gunshot wound, nothing on cams, go to the bar and get drunk again, second murder gets called in, same building, different spot, shot through the window indicates that the murderer shoots from the opposite building, investigate the appartment i though was that of the murderer, woman lives there and is rude to me, knock her out over and over while searching her house and "permanently borrowing" her belongings, realise she probably isnt the murderer, go up a floor and knock on the door, someones coming, stand there waiting on the someone, nothing, barge the door down and see him aiming down a barrel and shoot, run to to the town hall to buy handcuffs, get distracted by the bar and get drunk, throw empty bottles at people, run, get shot by a woman, wake up with 3000 dollars of medical costs and fines, fu**ing run, buy handcuffs and arrest the guy, somehow get almost all the evidence wrong exept the murderer, get drunk again. 8/10 would harras people and be drunk again

SoD has the inherent weirdness of every game that uses algorithms to generate its world, but nonetheless the cases I encountered were fairly satisfying, although any decent lawyer would tear my case and so-called evidence to pieces in a court, hence the dystopian privatised justice system. My one gripe is that the game is so determined that you are a private citizen that you cannot even enter a crime scene when the Enforcers (uniformed police) don't even have their own detective branch, so it strains story logic that I don't get a free pass or can even buy a "designated investigator" badge so I can inspect the deceased in situ without getting my brains blown out.
I like the game but I'm pretty good at pattern recognition and once I've discovered how the mechanism behind the cases work it became unplayable for me, there's not so much mystery and it doesn't bring me back in. I would love for the cases to be more random/complex, as in maybe sometimes its not a serial killer, maybe it was a domestic abuse case, the reasons for the crimes have to change to make it entertaining. I already know the most optimal way to solve the cases and since they're all the same, I just gotta do the same thing every time, nothing changes as for how the cases work now. I really loved and had a lot of fun until it got extremely repetitive.
Solve murders, commit corporate espionage, throw coffee at someone and snap a pic, all just to get off this rock and into the fields. Shadows of Doubt is an awesome detective noir imm-sim that I can't recommend enough. Not for fake gamers.
Eventually every citizen turns crook, might as well just clink the cuffs on all of em
