fun for all ages, studio did great job recapturing the feels of original all those years ago 8.4/10
Pretty fun game, and the only Purple Lamp SpongeBob game I'd recommend. It's not a groundbreaking remake that does anything special, but the original game from 2003 was very fun, so this one is too. One thing the game is lacking is the ability to change keybindings, kind of unacceptable for a 2020 game. Overall I'd give this a 6.5/10, go play it once and have fun, then forget about it.
I didn't play the original but this game is well made and very fun. Controller support is a big plus for playing on the big screen with the family. Shame about Krabs and Mermaidman's voice actors.
While it has some little glitches and faults, this is a masterclass in how to take an old game and upscale it for the newer generations. One of my favorite classics that I played for hundreds of hours as a kid, Rehydrated is an almost perfect remake of the OG. I would be interested in seeing a remaster of the movie game as well, but chances are I'll be dipping my toes into the newer Spongebob games by this developer.
This is a faithful remake of a beloved platformer that brings a classic adventure back with updated visuals while keeping the charm and humor of the original. It combines exploration, simple combat, puzzle-solving, and collectible hunting into a lighthearted experience that captures the personality of its animated source material. The biggest strength is the atmosphere. The game successfully recreates the colorful world, memorable characters, and silly humor that fans associate with the series. Exploring familiar locations, interacting with recognizable faces, and hearing the classic style of jokes gives the adventure a strong nostalgic appeal. The gameplay remains enjoyable because of its variety. Players can switch between different characters, each with their own abilities, which adds variety to exploration and platforming. The levels encourage searching for hidden items, completing challenges, and discovering secrets rather than simply rushing to the end. The remake also adds improvements that make the experience more comfortable for modern players. However, the game still shows its age in some areas. The platforming can feel inconsistent, with camera issues and awkward movement occasionally causing frustration. Combat is simple and does not evolve much throughout the adventure, and some objectives rely heavily on collecting items rather than offering deeper challenges. Overall, this is a charming remake that succeeds because of its personality and nostalgia. It may not compete with the most advanced modern platformers, but it delivers a fun, colorful adventure with memorable characters and a surprising amount of content. It is especially enjoyable for fans of the series and players looking for a relaxed, classic-style platformer.
I beat this game half a dozen times as a kid, and I did it again. Originally a licensed platformer from the early 2000's, it holds up remarkably well. Pick this up if you want a solid game. My only gripe is how saturated this version is. I felt my brain melting by the time I 100%'d it.
Still having a lot of fun running and jumping around as Robert the talking cheese
tartar sauce
This game is just pure nostalgia. used to love playing the ps2 version back in the day, got addicted to it and even right now im still in love with how this game capture Bikini Bottom from all the landscape to the music is just perfect.
