Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 8 → 3.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i got scammed. This game should not be in the Coop category!!!! The mulitiplayer sucks, it's very boring and buggy too (audio slider doesn't work). They should not have added multiplayer, it just tricked me into thinking this game would be fun coop, BUT THE MULTIPLAYER IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING AND VERY REPETITIVE AND BORING
tl;dr
fun yet slightly flawed 3D platformer that captures the SpongeBob vibe perfectly
Overview
Welcome back to Bikini Bottom. In this faithful [strike]remake[/strike] rehydration of a beloved 3D Jump 'n' Run Platformer, you will play as SpongeBob, Patrick, or Sandy as you are set to save the town from Plankton's robot army. The core loop revolves around battling robots, collecting stuff, and finding your way through the different areas, while each area has a main and several side objectives. As you progress, you will gradually unlock more parts of Bikini Bottom and more levels.
The Good Stuff
The game really delivers SpongeBob style to the max. Goofy dialogue, silly moments, and occasional unhinged comments that no child would ever understand. The core experience, the jumping and beating, feels smooth and fun. Each character is equipped with a unique set of abilities designed to deal with specific obstacles. The general level design is cute and astonishingly pretty diverse. There are no copycats; they deliver a distinct experience with varying challenges and their own charm. The occasional boss fights are simple, as the game is clearly aimed at a younger audience, but they are still fun and engaging. Further, I like the simplicity of the game. There are essentially two dedicated collectibles that you either find or get as a reward for the different objectives, and a bit of shiny stuff. That's it. Simple, sufficient, and engaging. Lastly, Battle for Bikini Bottom looks simply incredible and vibrant and runs pretty smoothly.
The Sorta-Kinda-Grinds-My-Gears-Stuff
The first thing that hit me the wrong way is the amount of tutorial signs and pop-ups. Yeah, it is a kids' game, but are kids supposed to be that daft? Or are they becoming increasingly dumber because of game design like that? Having three explanatory reminders of the exact same thing back to back is just mind boggling and unnerving. What happened to finding out stuff and ... thinking? The two things that I found to be most pesky are certain precision-heavy settings and character switches. Sandy's Spider-Man skill and Patrick's throwing ability feel inconsistent and a bit rough around the edges. You will get a simple crosshair-thingy to use them, to swing, or to throw at a specific target. At times I simply wasn't able to use it as intended, as the throwing would focus on whatever, and the swinging just would not offer the possibility to actually swing. Further, the levels regularly rely on sections that can only be done with a specific character. Hence, there are bus stops to switch to the needed char. Just think of a Lego game but having to run to a concrete place to change your figure. Sounds already annoying, doesn't it? Especially when the "feature" gets too much attention, as is the case in the latter levels. Constantly having to backtrack to switch characters gets very tedious. Next up, parts of the soundtrack felt like 5-second snippets put in an eternal loop. Hence, it can become quite annoying. Turning down in-game volume is an easy fix, of course. Although the level design in general is quite good, at times it is rather elusive which part of the map relates to the playable area and which part just gets you reset to the last checkpoint.
The Atrociously-Bad Stuff
Honestly? Nothing really. The inconsistency and rough edges in the accuracy department would probably have landed here if the game was absurdly challenging. But as this is not the case ... yeah. Nothing terrible about SpongeBob in this iteration.
Achievement-Hunter-Things
Completion is pretty easy. Essentially play through the game once and gather the needed collectibles. All golden spatulas and all of Patrick's lost socks. You can (re)visit unlocked levels at your leisure so nothing is missable. You will probably find most of it naturally, leaving you with a very negligible cleanup step. Also, there is a bug I encountered. I started a new save file and ignored the existing one that I started but never finished a couple of years ago. The collectible achievements just continued counting where I left off in my previous file. E.g. I had 10 spatulas, and the first one collected in the new save counted as number 11. Do with that information whatever you want.
Conclusion
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a love letter to fans of the original, and it shows. The vibe is spot-on, the levels are charming, and the gameplay is solid. Nothing to dream about, but just simple fun with nothing to lose. If you’re a SpongeBob fan or looking for a nostalgic 3D platformer fix, it’s worth picking up, especially on sale.
I hadn't played the original ps2 game, but I really enjoyed this one. It's a chill SpongeBob adventure also it got a little tough in the middle of the game. I can recommend this game to everyone & got so hooked that I beat it 100%
