Seven Days, developed by LIFE0 and published by Fruitbat Factory, is a supernatural visual novel that combines emotional storytelling with occult mystery elements to create an experience that feels both unsettling and heartfelt. Rather than relying on action or gameplay-heavy mechanics, the game focuses almost entirely on narrative depth, character relationships, and gradual revelations. Its central premise immediately gives it a distinctive identity: the heroines players encounter are already dead, and the story revolves around uncovering the truths connected to their existence, memories, and unresolved emotions. From the beginning, Seven Days establishes a melancholic but intriguing atmosphere. The story unfolds slowly, allowing players to spend time learning about the cast and the strange world surrounding them before larger mysteries begin to reveal themselves. Instead of forcing dramatic twists too early, the game builds tension through subtle conversations, emotional interactions, and carefully placed supernatural elements. This deliberate pacing works in the story’s favor because it creates stronger emotional attachment to the characters and allows later revelations to feel meaningful rather than rushed. The character writing stands as one of the game’s strongest qualities. Every heroine carries emotional weight beyond surface-level personality traits, and the narrative gradually exposes their fears, regrets, and hidden vulnerabilities. Their personal struggles become just as important as the overarching mystery itself. Seven Days succeeds because it understands that emotional investment matters more than shock value. Players are encouraged to care deeply about the cast before the story begins exploring its darker themes, making many scenes far more impactful. The supernatural setting creates an effective backdrop for the emotional narrative. The game constantly balances mystery with introspection, exploring ideas surrounding death, memory, loneliness, and human connection. While these themes could easily become overwhelmingly bleak, Seven Days avoids falling entirely into despair. There are moments of warmth and humor throughout the story that help maintain emotional balance and make the characters feel more genuine. This contrast between sorrow and comfort strengthens the overall atmosphere and prevents the narrative from becoming emotionally exhausting. Visually, the game delivers strong presentation through detailed anime-inspired artwork and expressive character illustrations. Character portraits effectively communicate emotion, while environmental backgrounds help reinforce the mysterious supernatural tone. The art style complements the writing rather than distracting from it, creating a presentation that feels cohesive from beginning to end. Emotional scenes benefit especially from the visual direction because expressions and framing add considerable weight to important moments. The soundtrack also plays an important role in shaping the experience. Quiet piano tracks, atmospheric melodies, and tense compositions all contribute to the emotional rhythm of the narrative. Music is used carefully to strengthen dramatic scenes and support moments of reflection without overwhelming dialogue. Combined with voice acting, the audio presentation helps immerse players more deeply into the story’s emotional core. Seven Days remains firmly within traditional visual novel territory, which means the experience focuses heavily on reading and narrative progression rather than gameplay systems. Players searching for complex mechanics or constant interactivity may find the slower pacing difficult to appreciate. However, those who enjoy story-driven experiences built around character development and emotional storytelling will likely find the game rewarding. Much of its appeal comes from patience and willingness to become immersed in the narrative rather than expecting immediate excitement. Another impressive aspect of the game is how naturally it merges emotional storytelling with mystery. Some visual novels struggle to balance suspense and character drama, often prioritizing one at the expense of the other. Seven Days manages to keep both elements engaging simultaneously. The unanswered questions encourage curiosity, while the emotional depth of the cast ensures that discoveries carry genuine emotional impact. The mystery matters because the characters themselves matter. LIFE0 demonstrates a clear understanding of what makes emotional visual novels memorable. Rather than depending on excessive twists or spectacle, the game builds its strength through atmosphere, writing, and emotional sincerity. Fruitbat Factory’s localization work also helps make the experience accessible to a broader audience while preserving the tone and emotional nuance of the original story. Seven Days may not appeal to everyone due to its slow pacing and heavy emphasis on narrative, but for fans of supernatural visual novels and emotionally driven storytelling, it offers a compelling and memorable experience. Its combination of mystery, melancholy, and heartfelt character writing allows it to leave a lasting impression long after the story reaches its conclusion. Rating: 9/10
◆実績の話 「Accident, I swear」
I somehow got the mc killed twice in the prolog before the main story even started... 3 hours in but I'm enjoying the VN even tho I personally not a type of person who have patient to read, I can't help but to be curious about the girls and how the story will end for them. I got the game recently from a giveaway btw, thanks

Seven Days is a decent to good nakige, but it is let down a bit by some uneven writing. I'd still recommend it to anyone looking to read a visual novel with multiple cathartic releases, as it filled its job on the nakige side fairly well (I cried 6 times throughout which is uncommon for me). The writing that starts off very strong through the first 3-4 chapters unfortunately starts to drop off as it goes on. It also gives in a bit - major spoilers -
to the whole parallel universe / time travel tropes in order to create a truly "happy end". I personally dislike this as it tends to leave a bunch of questions, and I don't feel like it should've been in this story.
I think this story would've been better served by completely ignoring the "mystery" aspect of it and instead focusing on the emotional moments. Those emotional moments were the strongest writing in the VN, whereas the "mystery" writing was subpar to the point where I'm not even sure it is much of a mystery. Music was appropriate but minimal. Systems were straightforward and even include a bare bones TTRPG sim and some quick-time events which were appreciated. Despite its issues, I still enjoyed my time with this visual novel, although I spent far less than seven days reading it. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decent nakige that doesn't mind it missing H content and can overlook some of its weaknesses, as the emotional bits are pretty strong.
