Tis quite a wonderful experience... While naught much happens, there tis' be a charm in the slow pace of such a game. Perhaps the intention was not to entertain, nor take up your day, but perhaps it's meant to be a small experience? For once's weary days ahead, one needs not to worry when playing. Perhaps many desire a game where one fights for honor! or hath action! But this tis not be that game for that intent. This game tis be but something to put on the background. I quite enjoy the idea of occasionally checking in with mine village, and making sure they do not fade at any point. First thing I've done each day for the past couple of days hath been checking up on my village.
The fact that there is no tutorial text, and general story text along the way ended up being a huge deal breaker for me. It seemed liked a quirky detail for the game but it seems to have ended up causing a lot of frustration for a number of players. I have no idea what I'm doing in the game and, while I'm often an achievement completionist, I won't be getting all of the achievements for this game since I'm totally lost which upsets me.
Beautiful style but confusing UI, no clear story or tutorial, making gameplay frustrating despite fun mechanics.
One of the best idle games I've played. Plenty to do when you want to focus on it, but progresses regardless, freeing up your attention when you need it.
this game is a joy to play the lovely music the adventurer's play and the ambient sounds, just leave it going in the background while you do whatever it is you do at your pc or get it up on your steamdeck, the letters and lore of the world is all fantastic and getting attached to your little adventurer's and seeing them grow as you build your town from humble beginnings is great :)
Some parts are a little confusing without clear instruction on what to do next or where to go but the goals are just a means to unlock more of the story or different items. If you don't care about that, you can honestly just vibe and run your little rpg town any way you want.
Settlemoon is a very long game despite the fact that you spend barely any time in it. It took me 29.4 hours to fully beat it. It got VERY confusing at times mainly in the beggining but I gotta say I throughly enjoyed it. It got that cryptic feeling to it like TUNIC but more cozy then adventures, although that aspect still exsists. If you're going to give this game a try, don't feel guilty about reading guides, they can help you understand the game better. It's a pretty solid 8.3/10 game for me.
Looked interesting, but then I tried to play it. Absolutely not new player friendly. And it's not EA. I think it had a tutorial somewhere. No mouse over info. You're just supposed to know what everything is and what to do. Had a hell of a time getting into the settings that stretched off my screen to the right. Had to resize initial window so I could set it to full screen. Couldn't even chose a name for myself, had to take what weird one they gave me in whatever language that was that I kept running into in the game. Extremely frustrating game. Just click everywhere until something happens if anything does. All my play time is trying to figure out how to actually build my first building. And then what? I simply don't understand what I need to do next. Some character with a letter symbol above their head. Too bad, no new player assist. Click on them as much as you want, but nothing happens. Gave up. Still no clue what to do. More random clicking, then some window opened up, can't read it, it's not in my language. Was already annoyed, rage quit out of sheer frustration. Refunded!
A cute and fun idle game focused on short play sessions where you build your town, restock your shops, queue up quests, then select your time bonus so while your not playing adventures will buy your goods and complete your quests so you can rinse and repeat while trying to unravel the mystery of what has happened to the world you are building in. Most tutorials are in pictures so it will take some guess work and experimenting to figure out what does what, but the game is created with discovery in mind so if it is something you would be interested in then take your time to see what the game has to offer. Even with the picture style tutorials, playing on the Steam Deck has been a lot of fun and mostly intuitive with the controls. The Steam Deck is a great choice for this game due to its idle nature of pickup and play when you feel like checking in on your town, then just swap games and let your adventures do the questing for you!
