fun
I'm about to start the last chapter, i think it is my second favorite in the series (after the second encounter) Its writing has the right amount of cheese. game play remains on-brand. A few more of the items probably should have been traps, and maybe a little less navigation would have made it a little better. mech suits are kinda fun, but vehicles are kinda janky. possibly larger ammo reserves would have been a better upgrade tree, or allowing upgrades to the looter-shooter ability would have been nice, but i was never out of ammo, just out of ammo in whichever gun i wanted to be using in a fight. graphically, its performance and quality are good, I did fight the dithering and LOD settings a bit.

I was about to send this game to hell, but my mom had already taken that spot. 10 one-liners out of 10.
The Good: The enemy design is cool, the story is good, and the gameplay is fun. When I exited the game, I was already looking forward to playing it again. The Bad: The game has noticeable texture pop in, where textures appear blurry at first and then suddenly load in full detail. It also has bad loading times, even on an SSD, and changing graphics settings requires a lot of patience. Visually, the game does not look that great. Somehow, the graphic fidelity feels worse than in previous titles, while the performance is much worse. My FPS could go from 190 down to 39. Changing the resolution from 1080p to 2160p changed the maximum FPS, but it did not fix the drops. There are certain places in levels where simply standing near an area or passing by it can make the FPS drop to around 50. I also could not get anti aliasing to work properly. Between the bad performance and the anti aliasing issues, I spent at least 90 minutes of my playtime in menus, changing graphics settings and trying to find something that would either fix the terrible performance or improve the image quality. I played the game on both 1080p and 2160p monitors, with refresh rates of 144 Hz and 120 Hz. The early levels, and some later ones, suffer from terrible bloom. The sunlight turns everything white and washes out all the colors. It looks bad and reminds me of the overused bloom from the Need for Speed: Most Wanted era of games. The controls for dual wielding are also not great. For example, to select the double barrel shotgun, you need to press 3, then 3 again, then left Alt to equip it. Imagine doing all that while also holding Shift, circle strafing, and dodging enemy fire. I wish left Alt simply enabled or disabled automatic dual wielding for guns. There is also a different gun combo dual wielding system, and that feels even worse. You can activate a DOOM 2016 style weapon wheel, select the gun, and double click it for dual wielding, but that pauses the game every time you do it. Reloading so many weapons also does not fit Serious Sam very well. The skill system is a cool idea, but I cannot say the skills are fun or well designed. I would much rather have a skill that removes reloading than one that gives me increased fire rate after reloading. Do I recommend the game? Yes, but only when it is on sale.
one of the most fun game u could play with your friends a nostalgic one as well
