10/10 game!!!! First this is NOT a NSFW game, but there are implications. However if you wanna see the good stuff, download the 18+ patch before playing! Search Sentimental Trickster 18+ patch on google and it should be easy to find :) totally worth it seeing all these hot guys LOL The story for all the routes + MC’s backstory are all enjoyable and compelling. Although Soichiro is the hottest guy lol, Shinya and Jin’s stories were the most realistic and the most compelling. Kanae’s story, or more his personality, kinda rubbed me the wrong way (but considering what happened to him, it’s warranted). His route surprisingly was my least favorite (I honestly though Shinya’s would be) because I’m personally not a fan of the *spoiler* I can change him *spoiler* trope both in games and IRL. There are some technical flaws in this game. Some of the capitalization is wrong and some of the wrong pictures are used (in one route, MC has a broken arm but some of the pictures depict him without his cast, and backgrounds in some kissing scenes are the wrong setting, I believe it’s Shinya’s). But I personally didn’t think it was too big of a deal. The side characters in each route are very pleasant as well. I really liked Anna and Midori, their BFF relationship with the MC (if you choose to befriend them) is so cute! Ayumi from Jin’s route is well written as well. Her sassy and grown up personality for a little girl was very funny, especially towards the end. Overall this game was super enjoyable! I wish they came out with more routes with this game, but it’s probably not happening haha.

~PROS~ +Art is consistent and not hideous. +Seemed not very fetishistic or sexual. +One older love interest. ~CONS~ -Love interests are disappointing. -Routes determined by unbalanced and unclear points system. -Game goofed my route so I don't know how bad it might be. -Obligatory 'women audience stand-in' characters fetishising gayness in at least one scene. -Non-existent ethnic diversity. -Older love interest knew MC as a baby, just kinda 'I'm just a loser' vibes to me. ~ACCESSIBILITY~ Press A to open the following accessibility options: *High contrast text, *Dyslexia friendly font, *Text size options, *Self voicing and volume. Routes are determined by unbalanced points system and not by the point your mother asks you to pick one of the 4 love interests as your crush. Why include that if it's pointless? ~LOVE INTERESTS~ *CHARMLESS A-HOLE: Shinya just argues with you and throws wild, honestly concerning paranoid accusations at you. *CHARMLESS BORE: is meant to be attractive and charming but he seems really dull and plastic. Yawn. *OLD MAN JENKINS: Soichiro is just a nervous, old uwu guy who knew you as a baby. Not sure how he's a love interest, seems creepy. His personality would be tolerable normally, but something about him having seen you as a baby but being like 'um.. y-you're cute, -Ah! I mean, not to me, just to anyone. ehehe' rubs me the wrong way. *A'IGHT GUY: Jin is half decent looking, confident, fun, and is a dork. He's not really my type but out of the oatmeal bunch we have, he's got some flavour at least. I gained an achievement for unlocking A'ight guys route. This is a problem for me because I save the promising routes for later; it gives me incentive to get through the entire game if I stomach the crap ones first, y'see. So this just kinda broke the experience before I got to any of their stories. I was barely hanging onto the fraction of my interest in this game, but knowing it already goofed the routes this early, I don't really want to deal with more routes, achievement or ending goofs. Also, I'm not replaying all this boring stuff to salsa with the dodgy 'points' system for the intended route to be opened. Verdict: Teach me to try to play another 'yaoi press' game just because it was already in my library. Normally I'd try to offer accessibility or diversity suggestions to the devs but I think this group are set in their ways and I'm not their audience so what's the point.

It took me extra time to read through this one because... I actually liked it. I may have come off a rather disappointing BL, but this one... Wow. This one sure needs a "Dark" tag attachment to it. Although... It's only for the "twist" so I guess it makes sense it's not on there. (All of these statements below will apply to the THREE routes: Shinya / Kanae / Soichiro. Jin was added later and his route isn't as long as the others so... I'll mention him later...) Okay well. Here we have a story where we not only get to know the MC well... We get to even learn about the LI! (Love Interests!) I mean... How else were the twists this good?! What's the THEME aka LESSON?! "Acceptance"... However that's not really the only one. I will say this: EVEN... EVEN IF it wasn't BL? The lessons themselves would be good for anyone (who wants to) to learn/hear. Believe it or not, I actually didn't give a damn (Okay... Not much) how these guys looked like. The story far more outweighed all of that. Except for Haru... He is really adorable. Also, by the time I got to this game... The Adult content was no longer available. It was... Annoying... But one must go on with the story even if there is an absence of nude bodies. (I will say that... When it does get to the lewd scene... It makes you feel a little empty on the inside... That you don't get to see it. Not because you overly WANT to see it... But because you don't get to enjoy more of these characters interacting with one another on screen. :I ) Characters! Haru -> Our purple-haired MC! He is a super likable, supportive, charismatic, funny and there is far more to him that meets the eye. He has his trauma and even so, he is STILL ready to kick ass and save others! A very warm MC. I commend you. *claps* Shinya! Aka F FACE! I disliked him a lot in the beginning (you are supposed to). Angry. Off Standish. Rude. Arro- You get the point. He turns out to be... Rather really enjoyable/likable. I didn't expect it from him. It was actually painful to see the characters in a misunderstanding. And that little stunt he pulled? When he went to "pick up" Haru?. YESSSSSSS! Also, he gets the best kissing scene ever!!! Approved. Kanae -> Ugh... "Popular / Pretty-Perfect guy", but is he really? I disliked his long hair... Then I heard the main reason for it and forget it. He can keep it. I will never bring it up again. OH MY GOD. Just... That was disturbing. Also psychological warfare. Also... When he and Haru are laying down... Are they standing propped up against the bed? The drawers in the background are standing horizontally, so... Lol. XD Soichiro -> An older... Gentler... "Too nice to say "no" guy". His story was bitter to say the least. The strangest part was how (no spoilers, so substituting words)... The "past relationship member's" "written part" aka important plot point... Hits too close to home. Not that every detail was the same for me... But I went numb reading the notes. It was eerily similar. Except for the [spoiler]depression[/spoiler] part. I am not [spoiler]depressed[/spoiler]. Too lazy to lay still and swat at my thoughts all day. ZZZZZ! Jin -> He we are. The guy who was added a bit later. His route is a lot shorter and I don't feel like there was enough time to build up everything (unlike the other routes). Not that his route isn't interesting or anything, it's just... Not given as much effort put into it? Also Haru... Haru seems to be less himself and well... Things just happen, sometimes rather quickly and outta nowhere and then the ending rolls around. I like the little kid and a few parts here and there but uhh... You guys forgot one important thing: What would a rat hold in its tiny little claws? Soichiro's route had a squirrel... This one had a rat. But with no item! I demand an item to be used to finish the sentence! Is that really important? No. Well kinda. ....... A little bit. Either way... I feel rather good about reading this book. Even with how odd Jin's route was... It still had its charm. I would so definitely re-visit these routes one day and see if I can pick up on anything else/something I may have missed. It was definitely worth it and I thank you for entertaining me for a few days. ^-^ :D :)

I played the game for Play or Pay 1st Cycle of 2026 and it was picked for me by Bored Queen. This game was gifted to me by Ninglor from PoP Secret Santa. Sentimental Trickster was honestly a bit different from what I expected going in. The colorful, pretty art makes it look like a light and fluffy BL visual novel, but it actually dives into some pretty heavy and uncomfortable themes. I ended up enjoying it though, the dark themes give the story more weight and makes it stand out from a lot of other games in the genre. The main character, Haru, is really enjoyable to follow, and the four love interests all feel distinct with their own personalities, issues, and storylines. I liked that your choices actually matter and influence which ending you get, so it feels like your decisions carry some real weight. The relationships aren’t just surface-level either, which made the routes more engaging to go through. That said, it’s definitely not a game for everyone. There are a lot of heavy topics and trigger warnings, and the game doesn’t really list them clearly anywhere, so I’d recommend looking them up beforehand because it's quite a long list. I personally didn’t have issues with them, but I can see how others might. There are also a few rough edges. The 18+ patch isn’t the easiest to find, and one of the newer routes (Jin) felt a bit messy with some odd pacing and transitions. The route point system can also feel a bit unclear at times, which made me second guess my choices more than I’d like. Overall, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s a more darker take on a BL visual novel with solid characters and meaningful choices, even if it has a few bumps along the way.

就我个人体验而言，这个游戏是非常值得一玩的。在正常世界观、蔷薇向游戏这两个标签下，它算是一部很精彩的作品。 虽然我个人不太在意画风有多精美，但游戏开始较为慢热。到了选择支线时，我以为各线大致相同，本打算走完Kanae与Jin的线就结束游戏。谁知打完两条线后，我发觉路线其实相差很多，觉得意犹未尽便打完了全结局。 也许是因为首次游玩的震撼最大，4条线中我最喜欢的是Kanae的线。其次最令我感到惊讶与满意的是Shinya线（因为我雷“眼镜”这一形象物件，但没想到等我真正走这条线的时候竟一点也不在意了）。在经历了4遍不同的情感经历后，只觉得4位男性各有各的魅力，至少在Haru在4个时空里说出“He is my BOYFRIEND"与”I love you"时，我都会经历新的感动，也为他们真心送上祝福。 最喜欢的角色是Haru，真的很可爱也很勇敢。其次应该是Kanae吧，首次选择他就是一种冥冥之中的指引，没想到他的剧情确实没有辜负我的期望hhh。 除了爱情，游戏中对亲情、友情的刻画相当不错，围绕的社会、家庭话题也可圈可点。在同价位同类型游戏中算较长线程的游戏了（也可能是英文限制了我的阅读速度，所以显得较长），至少我觉得超值！ 是一趟很不错的旅程，给予我许多新的情感体验！

Finally 100% this game and have...incredibly mixed opinions on it. If i had to rank the love interests... Shinya surprised me the most because I ended up enjoying his route the most, despite him not being my standard type at all. Soichiro, as an old man yaoi lover, was also great. Jin's route felt WAY too rushed imo. As for Kanae's route...words can not begin to describe how terrible I found its execution and handling of such a sensitive topic - also, just didn't give much time between him acting terrible towards you vs finding out his trauma for you to really process it? Overall, game was alright? Writing honestly dwindles between routes and leaves a lot to be desired...but it's inoffensive on the whole.
